Nowadays, people rarely watch TV advertisement. Speed became really important thing to people, so they often skip advertisement and think ad is waste of time. Therefore, companies are really worry about their ad and they have found way to attract consumers to attend to their ad. According to this situation, Korean company's advertisement have changed and shows many differences that have never seen before. The most remarkable thing that we can see is 'Kistch Advertisement'. "Kistch" literally means something of tawdry design, appearance, or content created to appeal to popular or undiscriminating taste. In the field of advertising, 'Kistch Advertisement' is used to describe advertisement that contains humors. It’s sometimes hideous, sometimes weird and sometimes mind-blowingly wonderful. That’s the power of kitsch advertising. By going super-low quality, company can actually increase the impact of their campaign, if done right. But I think there are too many kistch advertisement and it lost it's real meaning of advertisement. It seems they are missing real messages that they intended to deliver to consumers. I think it is really important to use humor code in advertisement suitably and not that highly provocative. It will be helpful to both of company and consumers within proper use of humor; kistch.
I agree that there are a lot of tawdry advertisements these days. But I can't deny their influence. especially about cell phones and their calling plan~~ If there were not "Kistch" , I would'nt watch those ads about cell phones or 3G 4G LTE .. something.. Becouse of contract stipulation( I can change my phone after 2-3years since I buy new one) and confusing wireless communication terms(I can't distinguish 2G 3G 4G LTE or something.. even I'm using 4G!!) I think Kistch ad comes more friendly to public, because we can enjoy it lightly without serious thinking. This witty ad stays longer in the memory of people instead of normal, boring ads. However, advertising products can't receive attention because people only pay attention to the expression such as "childish and light" or "to make a fun". So when using the "Kistch" techinique, we should be careful to prevent "Subject-object inversion".
I also think that advertisements are getting way too stimulating these days! It could surely catch a person's attention at the moment but advertisement company should aware that it can also bring minus effects. In my case (actually not only me), sometimes I remember the hilarious part of advertisement, but actually I don't know what they are advertising. i agree with what you are thinking about kistch advertisement. because i'm the person who usually skip advertisement and think it as waste of time. As you said, there are too many severe ad in TV, internet. sometimes i can't watch them because they are too much violent or stimulating. sometimes the ad has nothing to do with product. this is serious problem and that's why customer has to be smart and wise. the main problem is ad companies. I think the ad companies avoid legal limitation skillfully. TV and internet are open media that everyone can watch such as children so I think ad has to be restricted by force. Of course, it has to be maintained that the ad is interesting and catches eye.
I also agree that the adertisement in Korea changed a lot. In my case, when I saw a movie at theater or a video through Youtube, I really don't care about the ads and don't see them. Do you think that tact is the only way to make people laugh? I think it is NO. True humor is based on something painful which is caused by one’s painful experience. It is not difficult to make fun of other’s suffering and pain or be the butt of a joke. What you called ‘humor’ is just ‘Expressing other’s pain by tact in funny way’. Usually when you feel painful emotions, you express annoying feelings or cry but it is not easy thing that take a joke and laugh through being the butt of a severe joke. So mature person can only laugh through the hardship. True happiness comes from the strength of heart that sublimates the pain to the laughter. I think human can only laugh truly among a lot of creatures on the Earth. So the laughter is the most manlike behavior. I truely agree to Jason's essay. When we think of some comedians who are really famouse thesedays, they all make fun of themselves, and even bring there weakness in to relief. They know audience's point of laughing. And even though they do such things, we don't take it seriously. Instead, we see them as unaffected character. Obviously it is not easy to laugh over hardships, but I believe that positive mind always brings good lucks.

I agree that most of developments involve side effects.. As 혜영 said destruction,, environment pollution,, weapons,, reproduction,,, My father generations also suffered "computer development". Not knowing how to use computer, Microoffice, Internet, they had to work with computers. I agree with your ideas about the side-effects of technology I also think the pollution and problems are now undergoing as you said. So I think the only ways to solve these problems are developing technology even more. We need to develope an alternative energy source to ban fossil fuels and we need to develope genetic engineering so we can provide our food without pollution. It's a bit ironical but we need to develop our technology even futher so we can cope with these man-made problems.
I totally agree with your opinions above. Restriction on the applicable range of technology development should be exist in the whole field especially for the life science and ethics. I don't deny technology development and it does improve human life. However, in the life related field, technology often causes confusion to the definition and ethics of life. That's why I recommend to have certain restriction on the range of the technology development.
We've discussed future technology in the Unit 9. Future technology is associated with almost every field of science such as medicine, biology, environment ...etc, expected to provide a better future life to people. However, It is so unfamiliar with me to understand technology field, even though future technology would be linked closely to our practical life. So, I want to talk about something easy and familiar way. "Upcycling", formed from the words "Upgrade" and "Recycling", is what I suggest. It Is unnecessary to understand complex theory but, instead, what you need is just affection for things(materials) and a creative idea. If you ask what's difference between upcycling and recycling, I can tell you that upcycling does mean beyound recycling definately. It extends life of things and contributes to energy saving by giving a new value,upgrade, to waste products. It's very familiar concept because we sometimes make a plastic bottle into a flower pot or something else and that is a good example of upcycling. Then, Let's be creative a little more and you can get special item, the only one for you, and prevent waste of resources. From clothes to all: Furniture, Stationery, Accessory, Kithcen supplies even buildings there is no limit. Followings could be great examples to you and all those examples can be done in a very simple way. First example, you can change a broken tennis racket, if you have, into nice and unique mirror.Take net away and cut the mirror to size for your net and fit it into edge of your racket. To make your new mirror more unique, you can paint it or decorate in the way you want. Second example, use your socks, old or with a hole, to make dolls. Put some wad of cotton into the socks and do some needlework to make it doll shape. Third, a fishbowl for some little tropical fishes with an used bulb ! Get rid of every contents inside the bulb with a tweewers. And then, fill the bulb with water and some pebbles and plants. What you need is just colorful fishes, small enough to live in the bulb. Besides those examples, you can do upcycling many things in your own way. Be a wise and creative consumer not to waste of materials.
My mom once called me and made me see a "flower pot" with colorful cottons on it. She seemed somewhat excited and prou, and pot seemed a bit shoddy. so I acted as if I didn't notice that that's my mother's work not to disappoint her. at that time she looked like happy and proud. I guess upcycling is not only good for environmentally, but also good for producer's intimacy and attachment to the upcycled product.

About many years ago, I saw awesome upcycling ideas to use old stuff you’re about to throw away. One example, organizing your cords with used toilet paper tubes. A memorable thing was to make a shoulder bag using a woven pop tabs. When I saw this idea, I was shocked and I wanted to make this bags. So I bought many pops to make like this bag. So your opinion brought back my childhood memory. I think ‘Upcycling’ is like ‘Art’. Because we can reuse unwanted items by converting them into something better! High schools which require to wear school uniform is better I think. I prefer to wear uniforms in school to 'think less' about what students wear. They can have some sense of belonging in school with friends. When in middle school and high school period, regulary students are highly sensitive. Wearing uniforms can prevent comparing each other with making up.In addition , studentsdo not need that they feel in ferior, and they can focus to study all of the subject. As these facts are true, they could concerntrate om studying even more. Some might wants to wear different clothes but as time passes by, they will realize uniforms are comfortable as a fact. About Cutting Of Public Official’s Pension In Terms Of Protecting Real Justice
Last October 10th, the government made an official announcement about cutting of public officials pension. It sparked the public officials’ strong opposition. Because, it’s alike with the other countries, though there are the merits of job as public official in occupational stability and old age guarantee, the government made an official announcement about taking up that things. Not the national pension but spublic official’s! So, everyone are expecting that officials’ opposition would not stop just here. But my perspective is little bit different. Actually wholly different. Since I think public officials’ pension should be cut. For real justice. To tell the truth, it is definitely not today’s problem that the pesnsion should be cut. Last 2003, one of pledge of a former president who had a grand scale support from young people is that ‘measures against unemployment will be introduced at increasing the number of public official.’ He was elected with great support from young people, so that pledge never could not be fulfilled since every young people had hoped. In that way, the pledge was extensively practiced and, starting from 2004, public officialism have been prevalent in South Korea. It is a self-evident fact that public officer is better than company worker when economy is too bad. But, as we know, a side effect of public officialism have ran to extreme with change of the situation. The Sub-prime Mortgage which broke out in 2008 in America went to Europe and after Europe, it hit China market and Japan market. The principle which we had believed was disastrously broke down and whole world faced a endless downturn. Company had not invested while the household debt had increased and the gap between the rich and poor had been bigger. Because of the risk. But the only income of country is in a tax, so that country could not have collected taxes because there was not enough money. If the income is decrease, the expense should be decrease. In common knowledge. And the country’s biggest income is the tax. So, though country can not collect enough tax so that country should reduce the expense, country can’t reduce it since country should invest to what someone should invest. There are so many parts to be touched by country like investigation for public welfare, public education and public healthcare, for salary for public officer and for so on. But every parts have a order of priority. The present government is looking for a solution in logic like ‘the problem can be solved in where it is made.’ In other words, the government will find a solution in the revising the public officer system. The solution’s meaning is so simple. It means a decrease of expense. So, a pension for public officer’s will be decreased since the other parts like cutting salary or firing workers can not be a best way to cut the expense. Country also can not ignore a industrial logic as long as country undergo incomings and outgoings influence. It is true that enterprises’ society restoration had to be before cutting a pension. But it’s too late. An argument pro and con can solve nothing. Country is also a enterprise. Extremely conservative enterprise. Therefore it is a time to take a change. Country needs a money but the tax is too low and limited but country can cut the investments, so country needs to cut a expense. Cutting a pension for public officer is absolutely necessary.
I agree with you. There are also too many corruptions going on with the public officers, especially the ones who have more power. The amount of money spent on corruption is very considerable and the money they are earning is way too much for them. Are their work worth it? Absolutely not! First one is "self-healing electronic chips". Have you ever cracked your cell phone's liquid crystal? I did recently. But I didn't fix it yet because of I'm afraid of the reparing cost. However, we don't have to worry about this A/S cost near future because of "self-healing electronic chips". These have been developed by the researchers at the Caltech(California Institute Of Technology) for the first time in the world. The theory is based on creating a circuit that heals itself when something is cracked by using a liquid metal that restored conductivity. For this, we don't need to go A/S center when we crack or break something. Second one is "super strong spider silk". Did you watch the movie, "Spiderman"? Theis movie is about a man who attacked by spider have a special ability that can produce the spider silk. If you watched that movie, you could know that spider silk is as strong as the main character can move this buiding to another building. From this idea, One Dutch artist has combined this spider silk with human body to produce a super strong material which can stop a bullet at half its regular speed. He continues his work with cell biologist so they produce the synthetic spider silk which is stronger than steel materials. Thanks to this material, we can use this to create artificial blood vessels and ligaments, as well as dissolvable sutures. Like this, there are lots of surpring technologies(more complex and various field-mixing technologies). However on account of many already-developed technologies which are very helpful, researchers and developers have to try thinking more creatively and combining one theory with another field theory. So, as I dreamed to be a researcher in food industry, I need to search more about food trend and refer to other's research paper for making something new.

3D printer, we already dealt with this topic in class, but I was interested in the class, so I searched more about 3D printer. I was surprised since there were much variable 3D printer technologies. One of the 3D printers was formed like pencil, then not only users could choose the material, and also they could draw whatever they want. In this reason, it could be easy to handling and helpful for designing something. Besides, there was developed technology with 3D printer which was combined with aviation technology, so it used for space science. Even though there is no gravity in space, people could use 3D printer for the space work. It could be economical, because astronauts do not have to get anything except 3D printer. I expected 3D printer was not a trendy technology, but actually it was actively studied. Many people try to make 3D printer as a product for people to buy commercially. However, I was concerned about environmental problem. There is no doubt of that it could be helpful, but if some people use it indiscreetly, then it will occur an environmental problem. If people use 3D printer easily, much stuff will be made, then it will make trash much more. It is similar with disposable products. genetic engineering is developing and is being used in variety of fields. For instance, there is ‘Pomato’, which is genetically modified to have potato on the rout and tomato on the top. There are also human organs such as ears or noses growing on animals, that can be transplanted to humans. Even more, there are ‘Superbaby’s. Some babies’ genes are changed to be smart and to have good looking. This kinds of genetic engineering usages are helping people for health or productivity but I don’t think that they are always good. In fact, all these generic engineerings are just changing the nature and these will one day bring us side affects.
Thinking of ‘Pomato’, can we be sure that both potatoes and tomatoes are nutritious and delicious just like when they were grown separately? The plant is using the same amount of soil and if there are more products, they might not be the same. Also, there is no evidence that it is safe to eat the genetically modified products. Human organs growing on animals? How cruel is that! Those animals are forced to have unnecessary organs growing on them just for people’s need. It gets worse if there is an organ needed from one of the animals. They would be just killed or lose there part of body. I think this is out of line for moral rights. So does superbabies. Giving birth is one of the most beautiful happenings in nature and people are trying to modify it by choosing how the baby is going to be like! As you mentioned above, there are many negative effects consdering health or other animals. It is already discovered that the food that is made by genetic engineering can modify person's own DNA structures. Also, the indirect, longer-term effect of GMOs can be serious.There are many reserchs about seriousness of GMOs but there are few people who know about it. I think it is necessary to annouce and make peopel know about its problem and seriousness.
Genetic Engineering is the result of astonishing science developments. But at the same time, it is also very dangerous technology. As 지연 said It is cruel, I think Genetic Enginerring has the potential to cause a lot of ethical issues. So when apply that technology, We should execute it after determining that whether it is in the universal ethical standards.
Then we also need to think about natural diseases such as down syndrome. People with down syndrome tend to have short longevity and because of malfunction of their brain, their parents could suffer from taking care of their children literally all the time. Recently we talked about the developement of our society. And suddenly I'm just qurious about how you guys thinking that 'Which do you think is a better place for children to grow up, in the past time or modern times?' At first, I thought developed societies are too dirty and polluted. So the past time have more good condition than modern days. But nowadays many people realize the serious pollution and try to reduce the pollution in various range of fields. Like use of public transportation. I think that we can't give up living in developed country because of its problem like pollution. There's many benefits in living in nowadays.
First, we can get more advanced educaiton. Since today our society is competive society, we have to study harder than the past. So modern society is suitable to get a good quality of education and prepare the future. Recently we have a lot of effective way to education. Like smart phone video, various skills to understand thier study and so on.
Secondly, we have many convenient and enjoyable facilites like movie theaters, museums, and hospitals. In developed country, there are a lot of convenient facilites to enjoy our life. So children and thier family can be more comfortable and relieving stress in living. Also children can enjoy thier free time more easily. In addition, the student's health problem can be solved almost perfectly in modern medical science. Since modern society have lots of facilites and merits as I mentioned before, students can care their health easily. Therefore my opinion is that developed societies are good place for these several reasons. How do you guys thinking about this?
Also developement of our society tightended security. By using GPS, Parents can trace their child, so that make sure where they are is he/she safe. They had to wait until they get back home from school or kindergarten before GPS developed , not knowing if they are safe or being kidnapped or something.. So I think advance of society contributted better place for children to grow up.
I agree with you. Due to technology it more convenient for us to live. However, in contrary, technology has some disadvantages as well. For example, robots are taking over people’s position and it hinders people’s ability to communicate with each other.
I also think past time was better place for children to grow. I am now at age where I can see how technology and society has changed. When I was young and in elementary school, I spent most of my time outside. The day would always end the same way; my parents would yell out the door calling me just as the sun set. The things I remember doing most was playing games in the street. For example, hide-n-seek and riding bike, and so many more were enjoyed with friends. But now almost child spend their days inside their room playing with other competing for the highest score. I think playing outside is critical part of growing up foresting kids development I self- awareness, confidence and the experience of our natural surroundings!
Comparing the past and modern times only in Korea, I think past time was better place for children to grow up. Thinking of my age, I had a lot of good times and have many good memories. Of course it would be difficult for me to live like the past since I already have experienced the modern technologies but back then, there were no advanced technologies needed and I still did not feel inconvenient at all. Not only me but in those days, children had no worries about the world or future. Their age was meant to experience the world and play.
However, thinking of nowadays, children have no time to play. They have to study for their future schools since they are so young. They have to go to academies not to fall behind their friends. Instead of playing and helping each others, they have to compete. Also there are some technologies that made kids play less actively such as computers or phones. In the past, without contacting each others, we just met each others in the playground and played together. Now, we contact each other a lot and maybe that made us meet face on face less than before.
Although there are many fun convenient facilities now, children in the past including me or my parents' generation, kids still had a lot of fun things to do. Looking at modern children, I feel sorry for them, always busy studying.
I think children in today are more benefitted than us in playing. I, too, had fun, hanging out with friends in playground when I was young but now there are more beneficial activities available for children in these days. Last time, I saw a musical concert, I met so many children who had come to see that concert. I couldn't do when I was a child. I thought it was very good for them.
I also think that past time was better place for children to grow up. When I was young, I used to play at the playground and did active activities at the school yard. However, as I saw lots of elementary school student as a teaching-assistant at church, most of students are sitting around to do mobile game with their smart phones. Even though kids prefer to play with their smartphone rather than playing outside, we already know that playing outside is better. And I think parent's expectation is getting higher than before. Nowadays, it seems like it is essential to learn English since the kids are young. So there are many academy or kindergarden, teaching English. Whenever I ask the children at church about their plan for weekend, most of them are going to academy. Higher expectation makes children so busy.
Topic: Going abroad for studying is worthy compared to cost?
Lots of youth and young generation is going abroad especially to the English-speaking nations. Most people do overseas study usually for studying English and incidentally for widen one's view, and there might be those who just follow what others do. It's harsh reality that to getting a job, job seekers have to have high English ability such as TOEIC scores and other TOEIC speaking level or OPIC or something.. And many of job hunters have experienced studying abroad. So many of those who preparing to get a job plan for overseas study. But the money problem is also important. It's not a small fine like transportation expenses, lodging expenses and other expenses staying abroad. I'm wondering if going abroad for studying English is actually worth it in spite of its costs cause I've never been going abroad.

I am defintaly claiming that it's better off studying abroad. English is not a type of study, rather it is a language. Language contains cultures and lives. If you want to speak foreign language fluently, I strongly recommend to study abroad and it is cost-worthy. Besides, you can learn difference between other countries and ours. When you see what they are like and how people in the other side of the earth live, it will give you lots of thoughts about education, morality, and authorites and etc.. This has been helpful to me.
I also think studying abroad is worth it. As the same opinion with 명원, through studying abroad you can learn not only English, but also lots of things like other countries cultures, education, ways to deal with life and etc. In my experience as an exchange student, It's sure that I could improve my English skills, and also I learned attitude towards the life from them. People at there were satisfying with themselves, and it was the way to love themselves. This attitude made me to look back myself. Studying abroad was the best way to enlarge my experience and to improve linguistic skills.

If a person, who has exact purpose of studying abroad and who can pay the expensive cost, wants to studying abroad, I don't want to stop him/her. And also I know there are many advantages of studying abroad, that we cannot experience in korea. However,I don't want to recommend If it's just for spec, so called. Because people can learn English well with foreign teachers in korea and it costs less than studying abroad. It will be just waste of money and burden your parents.
Through globalization and development of technology, people can know and can get everything from all over the world. People can easily keep in touch with anyone who lives abroad, get information from another country, and also can send a package to another world. So these days it is not unusual to get a product or information from other countries. In this world, competitions between companies are getting higher. In the past the company just had to compete with their own country’s company. However, these days, companies have to compete with other companies in the world. The competition stimulate companies to develop their skills and creativity. And through this competition, as the final outcome, customers can get a low price, high-quality products. But at some point, Customers could be damaged by this competitions. Because of the monopoly of large-scale company. Globalization could widen the gap between the rich and poor company through high competition. Because usually large-scale companies have competitiveness than a small and home-based business. This situation make large-scale companies to monopolize. And then monopolize can connected to tyranny of the large company. So, I think we have to make polices to prevent monopolization of the company, by supporting the small and home-based companies.
But competition makes better products and it will ultmately benefit to customers. Smartphones, for example, are the result from competition between companies and these has improved dramatically which I am very satisfied because I want to use more technological devices.
I agree with your opinion that the competition makes better products. However, I'm worried about monopolize of the large company. If high-competition goes on to the monopolize of the large company, it could be harm to customers.
It's true that customers get disadvantage from monopoly but also get advantage, too. For example, telecommunication companies provide better quality such as clearer calling and faster smart phone internet than in other countries. Of course, there are various reasons that Korea has the best IT but it can't be denied that monopolization of telecom has influenced this result.
Thank you for replying. To add some opinion on your comment, I think telecommunication companies are examples of oligopoly, because there are several telecommunication companies in Korea. In case of that, companies are trying to provide better quailty than other companies and as a result people can get advantages. However, in the situation that one company monopolize everything, it can easily be connected to tyranny of the company.

By advanced information technology, people can freely pass over national borders through the internet and this fact tied human beings as global citizens. Then, how about in reality? In the real physical world, do people act in the same way that they often do in the cyber world?
One woman drove her car roughly because she was excited to provide students in her English class with her side-dishes for Thanksgiving-day party. Unfortunately, she forgot that she had put broccoli dish in a big plate and just covered it with foil. After she arrived at school, she opened the trunk and the broccoli dish fell upside down on the ground. She gasped and started to clean up the mass by herself alone because no one helped her. At there, many people saw her situation but they ignored and just passed her.
People see many beggars, homeless and old women selling some vegetables in subway station. Only few people care about the poor in need and help them. It is very hard to see a passenger giving some money to them. Well, there are several reasons. Firstly, the passengers might be too busy to think about the weak. They are so pressed mentally with daily stress that they don’t have eyes to look around others. In addition, they are encountered with those in need everyday. It makes the passengers get used to ignoring them or think themselves that they are enough with charity because they have already helped one. Nevertheless, these reasons can’t be excuses for the passengers about not helping those who still remain helpless today. This infers there must be a bigger cause.
The two cases in previous two paragraphs are true and happening today. It’s sure that IT has connected people in distance and allowed them to easily communicate. They are intimate and kind to the unknown rather in the cyber world than the real world. Why is that? The answer can be found in how people get information. How did you know that people were dying of ebola virus in Africa? You knew that through watching TV, seeing newspaper and searching articles in the internet. This type of methods of collecting information makes us as viewers and spectators habitually when our brain gains information and leaves us in a passive attitude. In other words, people tend to watch those in need in the real world more than actually help them in their daily life, as they watch some bad news in TV and internet. On top of that, the development of the internet and useful devices such as smartphones that have made people more accessible to the internet has created invisible barriers around the users of it because they can do almost everything through the internet. For example, if you don’t know how to get to subway station, what would you do thirty years ago? Of course, you would ask someone to get there. Today, you can simply search for the information. Likewise, you are able to do anything through the internet and this has led people to prefer doing oneself to cooperating with others. This aspect has progressed and resulted in enlarging individual space and thickening invisible barriers among people in the physical world.
I agree that it's a problem that people's action is different from the cyber world and reality. And I think this difference is also from people's vanity. At the SNS, people are relplying to a post or press "like" at the post which is about the social problem. Some of them are posting or replying to truly want be the part of help for them. However, some people are press "like" on their facebook just to show off that they are warm-hearted people. Maybe their reaction to show off could be a way to let more people to know about the social problem. But by just pressing "like" cannot be a solution in reality. Knowing about social problem through cyber world should be connected to they way to offer a solution about the problem in real life.

Especially this year regardless to the amount of the same food brands, many young founders are still copying famous food brand products. The cause of this trend can be seen by looking at this issue from a wider view. Due to slow economy it’s getting tough for young people to seek jobs. Recently, because of the recession, people are searching for a stable food item to be sold. In another point of view, this trend reflects that there is a low barrier in South Korea’s unstructured foundation food market. The low barrier makes it easier for founders to easily copy a specific food item which is popular in the industry. Therefore, the excessive competition between similar brands is making the problems in the food industry. However, copying famous food trends should be banned. In addition, if this problem develops into a legal matter the founders might have to change the concept of brand which makes problem worse. In order to reduce a great loss, young founders must create a new brand product to survive.
First of all, it is hard for young enterprisers to survive in a long term. There are many reasons young enterprisers fail, however, the biggest reason is that there is no discrimination among other each brands. Most young enterprisers think that they are familiar with the menu, service system and brand image and redesign it into a new brand. Unfortunately, their unstable operating system leads to failure in the end. For example, ‘안동찜닭’, ‘공차(버블티)’, ‘소프트리(벌꿀 아이스크림)’, ‘닭강정’ and so on, all made great success in the beginning. Afterwards, new enterprisers copied brands such as ‘봉추찜닭’, ‘버블트리’, ‘밀크카우’. However, most of these famous brands only lasted for a couple of years.
In addition, although young enterprisers started with a small amount of money by copying food brands, this can result in a big economical loss. Copying famous brands has many side effects because in the early periods it might show an high percentage of sales. However, if the two brand fight each other in a legal statement, in most cases the copied brand must give up the store. There are so many risks starting a brand which is not stable. For instance, ‘찜닭’ was a popular store last year. However, a high success rate of each store did not last long. In famous spots, every store had a similar brand nearby such as, ‘와룡안동찜닭’, ‘하회 안동찜닭’, ‘원조 안동 찜닭’, ‘안동 봉황찜닭’, which made a competition between each stores. As a result, 60% of the stores closed last year.
In conclusion, people should be aware that copying the same food item will not become successful in the long term. This is because first, young enterprisers will fail in a short period and secondly, the economically loss will be unexpectedly large. New enterprisers should develop their own know-how and stop imitating famous food brands. Also, the government should set the barrier higher to enter the foundation food market and young enterprisers should think of a creative item which will make a hit in the industry.

I think it's quite a problem. As you say, those situations come from the encourasing mood of founding their own businesses. Thesedays, it's really hard to get a job. However, if I do my own business, I don't have to worry about not having a job because I'm the CEO. People try to avoid the miserable situation, so they do the business, especially something new and profitable. That's why they start same food brands with similar name. But it doesn't look good because it doesn't quite different though they use different names. Then that makes consumers to sick of the same thing. So I think the government try to control the increasing brand product copy and employment system for young generation.
I think booming of similar restausrants might me somewhat good chances for customers to get better services and also good for restausrants to be stimulated in development. Thesedays, some restaurants which young people enjoy to go, such as 'Seo-ga and cook', tends to be way expensive. One of the most benefitial thing about FTA is that we can buy foreign products so easily so Korean companies who were trying to force nations to buy their products with patriotism, will self-reflect themselves and change. Car companies are doing almost the same things, less functions and higher price to nations. This was possible only when there were no global trading but now, it has changed and the Korean companies must change too.

i think FTA gave us many benefits that we could easily get foreign products by cheap price. and there are also another benefits that i don't know. as you said, FTA like globalization has double-edged sword. it gives us benefit and also gives disadvantage such as agriculture field. the agriculture in korea has very small market because the field to farm is too small. On the other hand, America has very big field to farm. if they try to spray agricultural chemicals, they use helicopter. Unlike foreign companies such as those in US, Korean Companies think domestic customers as their "back up". These kind of trend must be changed as you said. Moreover, I also think that behavior of Korean government should be changed. Government tries to block or prevent customers from buying Korean Companies' product from foreign through website ( so called 해외직구 in Korean). To 이주승. The idea that FTA should be opened partially is quite true. When FTA between US and Korea were on negotiation, there have been lots of protest against inlcuding rice on the list. However, since FTA is one of the international politics,everything can not be done in a way we all wanted. Therefore, some sacrifice must be needed, but Korean Government should have preparation for those sacrifices to avoid critical hardship for those who sacrifices.
Many of my friends ask me, "Aren't you scared of traveling to country X all by yourself?" This question always amazes me, as it really is an enriching experience. Of course, if I am extremely shy and have anxiety, I may have more troubles. However the great thing is that I don't have to fit into a group's agenda or disappoint anyone. Also I don't have to wait around for other people to get ready or do any other of the little everyday hassles travelers face. Additionally, dealing with different budgets can be difficult, as I never want to be forced to spend more than I can afford. For example, I once backpacked Canada with a girl who was extremely cheap and I wouldn't splurge on any day trips or go to any bars or club. While doing the complimentary walking tours was nice, there was a lot more I wanted to do. However, I couldn't because she wanted me to do all our activities together. Sometimes it’s not easy to find someone who wishes to travel exactly like me. I believe a person learns a lot in solitude. And I can meet more people when traveling all by myself and I've had some amazing encounters.
Actually I'm the person who do not like to being alone, especially about the travel. Because I want to share that great happiness of watching or traveling, with someone I like. And I just like to getting together with people. I agree that it is not easy to find someone who wishes to travel exactly like me. When I traveled with my friends, I've been endured disadvantages from difference budget, personality, etc. However, even though there were disadvantages from differences, for example, I couldn't do activites that I want because of my friends, I just enjoyed the time with them. Also from the travel, I could see another side of my friends, learned lots of things from my freinds, and learned how to get along harmoniously. There's also lots of things to learn from traveling together with friends!
I also one of the person who prefer to do something alone. Because I really don't like the situation that comes from opinion conflicts especially during traveling. You know, there is a proverb in Korea, "If there is lots of people in the boat, the boat goes to the mountain (Too many cooks spoil the stew)". When I went to USA this summer vacation, our school students were really huge group, because it was almost 130 people. Of course, with many people we had really great time, but there were also some problems and troubles on the last week. Through that experience there is one thing I definitlely realized. Traveling alone looks like dangerous and scary sometimes, but as you say, we can learn more in solitude and meet other people more open-minded. Therefore, I totally agree with your thinking about travelling all by yourself.
I also had similar experience of yours. I travelled alone for 6 day in Korea about 3 years ago. I used the train pass called 'Na-ilro' which is very famous around our age. I travelled Paju, Junju, Bosung, Pusan, Gyung-ju and etc. It was really nice to have a time just for myself so I didn' need to care about school, job, or problems of my life. I felt really free. I thought a lot about myself and my family. Also, I think I grew up with that experience. I had to handle all my stuffs and schedules. I made a reservation at guest house and Jjim jil bang, set the budget and made a plan. During the trip some variables came out but I had to handle it. It was hard and exhausting but certainly worth to try! After that experience I recommend others to leave the city alone!

The technology has developed brilliantly and now it permeated in our daily life. Many futurists reports that the artificial womb can be generalized in 20 years. There are some predicted pros and cons of the artificial womb but personally, I support the generalization of artificial womb. Many people are worrying about the side effects of the artificial womb. They said, it might cause trend to make light of human life and some people might produce army with artificial womb. But I think even now bad people like IS rape women to produce their armies and this outrageous acts doesn’t even costs. So, using artificial womb to produce army is weak argument. The ripple effects that artificial womb would bring us is huge. Women can be extricated from pregnancy problems. All they need is healthy egg from woman and sperm form man. Until now so many women had to give up their career because of their pregnancy. Many companies in Korea prefer men because most of women quit their job because of the pregnancy. It’s not women’s choice to carry baby for 10 months but they suffer from that. Therefore, companies are really worry about their ad and they have found way to attract consumers to attend to their ad. According to this situation, Korean company's advertisement have changed and shows many differences that have never seen before. The most remarkable thing that we can see is 'Kistch Advertisement'. "Kistch" literally means something of tawdry design, appearance, or content created to appeal to popular or undiscriminating taste. In the field of advertising, 'Kistch Advertisement' is used to describe advertisement that contains humors. It’s sometimes hideous, sometimes weird and sometimes mind-blowingly wonderful. That’s the power of kitsch advertising. By going super-low quality, company can actually increase the impact of their campaign, if done right. But I think there are too many kistch advertisement and it lost it's real meaning of advertisement. It seems they are missing real messages that they intended to deliver to consumers. I think it is really important to use humor code in advertisement suitably and not that highly provocative. It will be helpful to both of company and consumers within proper use of humor; kistch.

Becouse of contract stipulation( I can change my phone after 2-3years since I buy new one) and confusing wireless communication terms(I can't distinguish 2G 3G 4G LTE or something.. even I'm using 4G!!) I used to skip those boring cell phone ads.
But as interesting ads appears,, like G-dragon saying "8llow~8llow me~~~" or really fast character"Darth Vader" implies fast wireless system , I can enjoy watching ads killing times ,and sometimes I can get some informations they want to express
I think some of those Kistch ads have good influence toward not only consumer but also company
I think Kistch ad comes more friendly to public, because we can enjoy it lightly without serious thinking. This witty ad stays longer in the memory of people instead of normal, boring ads. However, advertising products can't receive attention because people only pay attention to the expression such as "childish and light" or "to make a fun". So when using the "Kistch" techinique, we should be careful to prevent "Subject-object inversion".

i agree with what you are thinking about kistch advertisement. because i'm the person who usually skip advertisement and think it as waste of time. As you said, there are too many severe ad in TV, internet. sometimes i can't watch them because they are too much violent or stimulating. sometimes the ad has nothing to do with product. this is serious problem and that's why customer has to be smart and wise. the main problem is ad companies. I think the ad companies avoid legal limitation skillfully. TV and internet are open media that everyone can watch such as children so I think ad has to be restricted by force. Of course, it has to be maintained that the ad is interesting and catches eye.
DeleteI also agree that the adertisement in Korea changed a lot. In my case, when I saw a movie at theater or a video through Youtube, I really don't care about the ads and don't see them. Oftenly however, there are some funny ads which catch my eyes like one of mobile service provider, Olleh. It contains the word "Giga Pakpak", which means "I give you the energy, so fighting!". That word related to their promotion and people say that word with HAKA dance. That part really catch my eyes, did you guys see that ads? What you guys feel through that ads? ReplyDeleteDo you think that tact is the only way to make people laugh? I think it is NO. True humor is based on something painful which is caused by one’s painful experience. It is not difficult to make fun of other’s suffering and pain or be the butt of a joke. What you called ‘humor’ is just ‘Expressing other’s pain by tact in funny way’. Usually when you feel painful emotions, you express annoying feelings or cry but it is not easy thing that take a joke and laugh through being the butt of a severe joke. So mature person can only laugh through the hardship. True happiness comes from the strength of heart that sublimates the pain to the laughter. I think human can only laugh truly among a lot of creatures on the Earth. So the laughter is the most manlike behavior. Because we have power of mind that can laugh in pain, we can be only the happy ‘lord of all creatures’.

One day 병재 fell in love with one girl and asked her out on a date saying "Why don't we go out for dinner?",and she answers "I ate dinner." when time was 3'oclock yet. Again he asked "Why don't we watch movie together?", then she replies "I have an appointment that day", even he didn't say when to see. Finally 병재 asked her phone number but she rejects saying she has no phone, but she disappears answering the phone.
It's sad but funny because he has been denied several times in a stubborn and painful way. But it make us more laught because of his attitude. He never give vent to his anger or get mad. He just tears stand in his eyes sitting calmly..

Thanks to scientific technology, humans live more comfortably than ever, but the negative side due to unrestricted Scientific technology is essential discussion topic in this era.
The first problem is destruction of nature. Due to excessive conquest to nature, many resources are exhausted and industrial garbages are increased. Thus, environmental pollution becomes serious, so the natural ecosystem is being collapsed. This distruction of ecosystem is so related to human survival, so we can't ignore that. The second problem is the improved skill of war and weapons. Improve skills and performance of the murder weapon of war. Modern weapons of war have been improved more than expected, so it can lead human to self-destruction. The third problem is about the field of life science and ethics. Especially life reproduction, species cross, research and using of human embryo, gene therapy, and gene variation to animals can ignore the dignity and ethics of life. DeleteMy father generations also suffered "computer development". Not knowing how to use computer, Microoffice, Internet, they had to work with computers.
Computers helped them doing work at clean and fast working environment, but they had to learn and practice how to manipulate computers and that made some of that generation dizzy and exhausted..
Most of developments have pros and cons. So we have to develop within social and moral standard, and need some criteria and educations to coexist with development.

So I think the only ways to solve these problems are developing technology even more. We need to develope an alternative energy source to ban fossil fuels and we need to develope genetic engineering so we can provide our food without pollution. It's a bit ironical but we need to develop our technology even futher so we can cope with these man-made problems.

Future technology is associated with almost every field of science such as medicine, biology, environment ...etc, expected to provide a better future life to people. However, It is so unfamiliar with me to understand technology field, even though future technology would be linked closely to our practical life.
So, I want to talk about something easy and familiar way. "Upcycling", formed from the words "Upgrade" and "Recycling", is what I suggest. It Is unnecessary to understand complex theory but, instead, what you need is just affection for things(materials) and a creative idea. If you ask what's difference between upcycling and recycling, I can tell you that upcycling does mean beyound recycling definately. It extends life of things and contributes to energy saving by giving a new value,upgrade, to waste products. It's very familiar concept because we sometimes make a plastic bottle into a flower pot or something else and that is a good example of upcycling.
Then, Let's be creative a little more and you can get special item, the only one for you, and prevent waste of resources. From clothes to all: Furniture, Stationery, Accessory, Kithcen supplies even buildings there is no limit.
Followings could be great examples to you and all those examples can be done in a very simple way. First example, you can change a broken tennis racket, if you have, into nice and unique mirror.Take net away and cut the mirror to size for your net and fit it into edge of your racket. To make your new mirror more unique, you can paint it or decorate in the way you want. Second example, use your socks, old or with a hole, to make dolls. Put some wad of cotton into the socks and do some needlework to make it doll shape. Third, a fishbowl for some little tropical fishes with an used bulb ! Get rid of every contents inside the bulb with a tweewers. And then, fill the bulb with water and some pebbles and plants. What you need is just colorful fishes, small enough to live in the bulb.
Besides those examples, you can do upcycling many things in your own way. Be a wise and creative consumer not to waste of materials.
My mom once called me and made me see a "flower pot" with colorful cottons on it. She seemed somewhat excited and prou, and pot seemed a bit shoddy. so I acted as if I didn't notice that that's my mother's work not to disappoint her. at that time she looked like happy and proud.

About many years ago, I saw awesome upcycling ideas to use old stuff you’re about to throw away. One example, organizing your cords with used toilet paper tubes. A memorable thing was to make a shoulder bag using a woven pop tabs. When I saw this idea, I was shocked and I wanted to make this bags. So I bought many pops to make like this bag. So your opinion brought back my childhood memory. I think ‘Upcycling’ is like ‘Art’. Because we can reuse unwanted items by converting them into something better! Instead of throwing away something, trying to think of how I could use it differently blows my mind.

High schools which require to wear school uniform is better I think. I prefer to wear uniforms in school to 'think less' about what students wear.
They can have some sense of belonging in school with friends. When in middle school and high school period, regulary students are highly sensitive.
Wearing uniforms can prevent comparing each other with making up.In addition , studentsdo not need that they feel in ferior, and they can focus to study all of the subject. As these facts are true, they could concerntrate om studying even more.
Some might wants to wear different clothes but as time passes by, they will realize uniforms are comfortable as a fact. Instead, transforming length or the shape of uniforms will be allowed.
It is true that if students wear uniforms, they would have less concerns about their clothes. However, school is not only the place for students to learn math or science. School is one social place and students should have rights to choose what they want to wear and how they want to look like. Most of all, there is no scientific result that wearing uniforms would make students study better. In fact, it would just capture students into regulations and have bad effects on creativities. Students should learn to express themselves by appearance since they are young.

Because, it’s alike with the other countries, though there are the merits of job as public official in occupational stability and old age guarantee, the government made an official announcement about taking up that things. Not the national pension but spublic official’s! So, everyone are expecting that officials’ opposition would not stop just here. But my perspective is little bit different. Actually wholly different. Since I think public officials’ pension should be cut. For real justice.
To tell the truth, it is definitely not today’s problem that the pesnsion should be cut. Last 2003, one of pledge of a former president who had a grand scale support from young people is that ‘measures against unemployment will be introduced at increasing the number of public official.’ He was elected with great support from young people, so that pledge never could not be fulfilled since every young people had hoped. In that way, the pledge was extensively practiced and, starting from 2004, public officialism have been prevalent in South Korea. It is a self-evident fact that public officer is better than company worker when economy is too bad. But, as we know, a side effect of public officialism have ran to extreme with change of the situation.
The Sub-prime Mortgage which broke out in 2008 in America went to Europe and after Europe, it hit China market and Japan market. The principle which we had believed was disastrously broke down and whole world faced a endless downturn. Company had not invested while the household debt had increased and the gap between the rich and poor had been bigger. Because of the risk. But the only income of country is in a tax, so that country could not have collected taxes because there was not enough money. If the income is decrease, the expense should be decrease. In common knowledge. And the country’s biggest income is the tax. So, though country can not collect enough tax so that country should reduce the expense, country can’t reduce it since country should invest to what someone should invest.
There are so many parts to be touched by country like investigation for public welfare, public education and public healthcare, for salary for public officer and for so on. But every parts have a order of priority. The present government is looking for a solution in logic like ‘the problem can be solved in where it is made.’ In other words, the government will find a solution in the revising the public officer system. The solution’s meaning is so simple. It means a decrease of expense. So, a pension for public officer’s will be decreased since the other parts like cutting salary or firing workers can not be a best way to cut the expense.
Country also can not ignore a industrial logic as long as country undergo incomings and outgoings influence. It is true that enterprises’ society restoration
had to be before cutting a pension. But it’s too late. An argument pro and con can solve nothing. Country is also a enterprise. Extremely conservative enterprise. Therefore it is a time to take a change. Country needs a money but the tax is too low and limited but country can cut the investments, so country needs to cut a expense. Cutting a pension for public officer is absolutely necessary.

I agree with you. There are also too many corruptions going on with the public officers, especially the ones who have more power. The amount of money spent on corruption is very considerable and the money they are earning is way too much for them. Are their work worth it? Absolutely not! This is why the government keeps needing money and they are trying to get it from innocent people by tax or welfare. They should fix other problems first before they blame on the people!

ReplyDeleteYou know, we live in a technology affluent society. Due to a lot of technologies are found and developed, we can live our life more comfortable. However, technologists and engineers can't stop researching something new, so they have to think more creatively. Here are two new technologies that would be using commonly for the near future.
First one is "self-healing electronic chips". Have you ever cracked your cell phone's liquid crystal? I did recently. But I didn't fix it yet because of I'm afraid of the reparing cost. However, we don't have to worry about this A/S cost near future because of "self-healing electronic chips". These have been developed by the researchers at the Caltech(California Institute Of Technology) for the first time in the world. The theory is based on creating a circuit that heals itself when something is cracked by using a liquid metal that restored conductivity. For this, we don't need to go A/S center when we crack or break something.
Second one is "super strong spider silk". Did you watch the movie, "Spiderman"? Theis movie is about a man who attacked by spider have a special ability that can produce the spider silk. If you watched that movie, you could know that spider silk is as strong as the main character can move this buiding to another building. From this idea, One Dutch artist has combined this spider silk with human body to produce a super strong material which can stop a bullet at half its regular speed. He continues his work with cell biologist so they produce the synthetic spider silk which is stronger than steel materials. Thanks to this material, we can use this to create artificial blood vessels and ligaments, as well as dissolvable sutures.
Like this, there are lots of surpring technologies(more complex and various field-mixing technologies). However on account of many already-developed technologies which are very helpful, researchers and developers have to try thinking more creatively and combining one theory with another field theory. So, as I dreamed to be a researcher in food industry, I need to search more about food trend and refer to other's research paper for making something new.

One of the 3D printers was formed like pencil, then not only users could choose the material, and also they could draw whatever they want. In this reason, it could be easy to handling and helpful for designing something. Besides, there was developed technology with 3D printer which was combined with aviation technology, so it used for space science. Even though there is no gravity in space, people could use 3D printer for the space work. It could be economical, because astronauts do not have to get anything except 3D printer. I expected 3D printer was not a trendy technology, but actually it was actively studied. Many people try to make 3D printer as a product for people to buy commercially.
However, I was concerned about environmental problem. There is no doubt of that it could be helpful, but if some people use it indiscreetly, then it will occur an environmental problem. If people use 3D printer easily, much stuff will be made, then it will make trash much more. It is similar with disposable products. Thus, I hope that the technology for 3D printer should be considered about this problem.
I;m also interested about 3D printer but I wonder it could be became as really dangerous material. I think strict laws should be made by government or scientists. People can make any product by 3D printer so I think it can cause economic problem. It means if people buy 3D printer, then people don't have to buy product at the store. Therefore, maybe market transaction will be disappeared. Also, the product that is specified as illegal can be made by general people. So it can cause some chaos or disorder. The Development of Genetic Engineering
ReplyDeletegenetic engineering is developing and is being used in variety of fields. For instance, there is ‘Pomato’, which is genetically modified to have potato on the rout and tomato on the top. There are also human organs such as ears or noses growing on animals, that can be transplanted to humans. Even more, there are ‘Superbaby’s. Some babies’ genes are changed to be smart and to have good looking. This kinds of genetic engineering usages are helping people for health or productivity but I don’t think that they are always good. In fact, all these generic engineerings are just changing the nature and these will one day bring us side affects.
Thinking of ‘Pomato’, can we be sure that both potatoes and tomatoes are nutritious and delicious just like when they were grown separately? The plant is using the same amount of soil and if there are more products, they might not be the same. Also, there is no evidence that it is safe to eat the genetically modified products. Human organs growing on animals? How cruel is that! Those animals are forced to have unnecessary organs growing on them just for people’s need. It gets worse if there is an organ needed from one of the animals. They would be just killed or lose there part of body. I think this is out of line for moral rights. So does superbabies. Giving birth is one of the most beautiful happenings in nature and people are trying to modify it by choosing how the baby is going to be like! It is true that some genetic engineering techniques can help people, but it should not be used if it is going against the nature.
I also acknowledge that it can help many people and can make good effects on society. But the thing that I really wonder is that people don't know about a side effect or negative effects that is already discovered. As you mentioned above, there are many negative effects consdering health or other animals. It is already discovered that the food that is made by genetic engineering can modify person's own DNA structures. At first, I thought developed societies are too dirty and polluted. So the past time have more good condition than modern days.
But nowadays many people realize the serious pollution and try to reduce the pollution in various range of fields. Like use of public transportation.
I think that we can't give up living in developed country because of its problem like pollution. There's many benefits in living in nowadays.
First, we can get more advanced educaiton. Since today our society is competive society, we have to study harder than the past.
So modern society is suitable to get a good quality of education and prepare the future. Recently we have a lot of effective way to education. Like smart phone video, various skills to understand thier study and so on.
Secondly, we have many convenient and enjoyable facilites like movie theaters, museums, and hospitals.
In developed country, there are a lot of convenient facilites to enjoy our life. So children and thier family can be more comfortable and relieving stress in living. Also children can enjoy thier free time more easily.
In addition, the student's health problem can be solved almost perfectly in modern medical science. Since modern society have lots of facilites and merits as I mentioned before, students can care their health easily.
Therefore my opinion is that developed societies are good place for these several reasons.

DeleteI am now at age where I can see how technology and society has changed. When I was young and in elementary school, I spent most of my time outside. The day would always end the same way; my parents would yell out the door calling me just as the sun set. The things I remember doing most was playing games in the street. For example, hide-n-seek and riding bike, and so many more were enjoyed with friends. But now almost child spend their days inside their room playing with other competing for the highest score. I think playing outside is critical part of growing up foresting kids development I self- awareness, confidence and the experience of our natural surroundings!
Comparing the past and modern times only in Korea, I think past time was better place for children to grow up. Thinking of my age, I had a lot of good times and have many good memories. Of course it would be difficult for me to live like the past since I already have experienced the modern technologies but back then, there were no advanced technologies needed and I still did not feel inconvenient at all. Not only me but in those days, children had no worries about the world or future. Their age was meant to experience the world and play.

They have to go to academies not to fall behind their friends. Instead of playing and helping each others, they have to compete. Also there are some technologies that made kids play less actively such as computers or phones. In the past, without contacting each others, we just met each others in the playground and played together. Now, we contact each other a lot and maybe that made us meet face on face less than before.
Although there are many fun convenient facilities now, children in the past including me or my parents' generation, kids still had a lot of fun things to do. Looking at modern children, I feel sorry for them, always busy studying.
I think children in today are more benefitted than us in playing. I, too, had fun, hanging out with friends in playground when I was young but now there are more beneficial activities available for children in these days. Last time, I saw a musical concert, I met so many children who had come to see that concert. I couldn't do when I was a child. I thought it was very good for them.

However, as I saw lots of elementary school student as a teaching-assistant at church, most of students are sitting around to do mobile game with their smart phones. Even though kids prefer to play with their smartphone rather than playing outside, we already know that playing outside is better. And I think parent's expectation is getting higher than before. Nowadays, it seems like it is essential to learn English since the kids are young. So there are many academy or kindergarden, teaching English. Whenever I ask the children at church about their plan for weekend, most of them are going to academy. Higher expectation makes children so busy.

ReplyDeleteLots of youth and young generation is going abroad especially to the English-speaking nations. Most people do overseas study usually for studying English and incidentally for widen one's view, and there might be those who just follow what others do.
It's harsh reality that to getting a job, job seekers have to have high English ability such as TOEIC scores and other TOEIC speaking level or OPIC or something.. And many of job hunters have experienced studying abroad. So many of those who preparing to get a job plan for overseas study.
But the money problem is also important. It's not a small fine like transportation expenses, lodging expenses and other expenses staying abroad.
I'm wondering if going abroad for studying English is actually worth it in spite of its costs cause I've never been going abroad.
Does anybody have been abroad or heard about it? Did you/they improved your/their English skills?
I am defintaly claiming that it's better off studying abroad. English is not a type of study, rather it is a language. Language contains cultures and lives. If you want to speak foreign language fluently, I strongly recommend to study abroad and it is cost-worthy. Besides, you can learn difference between other countries and ours. When you see what they are like and how people in the other side of the earth live, it will give you lots of thoughts about education, morality, and authorites and etc.. This has been helpful to me.

As the same opinion with 명원, through studying abroad you can learn not only English, but also lots of things like other countries cultures, education, ways to deal with life and etc. In my experience as an exchange student, It's sure that I could improve my English skills, and also I learned attitude towards the life from them. People at there were satisfying with themselves, and it was the way to love themselves. This attitude made me to look back myself. In this world, competitions between companies are getting higher. In the past the company just had to compete with their own country’s company. However, these days, companies have to compete with other companies in the world. The competition stimulate companies to develop their skills and creativity. And through this competition, as the final outcome, customers can get a low price, high-quality products.
But at some point, Customers could be damaged by this competitions. Because of the monopoly of large-scale company. Globalization could widen the gap between the rich and poor company through high competition. Because usually large-scale companies have competitiveness than a small and home-based business. This situation make large-scale companies to monopolize. And then monopolize can connected to tyranny of the large company. So, I think we have to make polices to prevent monopolization of the company, by supporting the small and home-based companies.
But competition makes better products and it will ultmately benefit to customers. Smartphones, for example, are the result from competition between companies and these has improved dramatically which I am very satisfied because I want to use more technological devices.

For example, telecommunication companies provide better quality such as clearer calling and faster smart phone internet than in other countries. Of course, there are various reasons that Korea has the best IT but it can't be denied that monopolization of telecom has influenced this result.

In case of that, companies are trying to provide better quailty than other companies and as a result people can get advantages. Did you feel sorry for the suffering people in the report and were you willing to post comments there and express your sympathy? Or were you willing to contribute your kindness to help them? In near past, Ice-bucket challenge was popular in SNS(Social Network Service) and almost everyone-even celebrities actively encouraged people to do it-seemed to participate in. This challenge is a social campaign and when you are nominated by a previous challenger you have to choose either you pour yourself water with ice or donate money after you nominate another three people. It was originated to motivate people to donate money for patients with Lou Gehrig’s disease. By advanced information technology, people can freely pass over national borders through the internet and this fact tied human beings as global citizens. Then, how about in reality? In the real physical world, do people act in the same way that they often do in the cyber world?
One woman drove her car roughly because she was excited to provide students in her English class with her side-dishes for Thanksgiving-day party. Unfortunately, she forgot that she had put broccoli dish in a big plate and just covered it with foil. After she arrived at school, she opened the trunk and the broccoli dish fell upside down on the ground. She gasped and started to clean up the mass by herself alone because no one helped her. At there, many people saw her situation but they ignored and just passed her.
People see many beggars, homeless and old women selling some vegetables in subway station. Only few people care about the poor in need and help them. It is very hard to see a passenger giving some money to them. Well, there are several reasons. Firstly, the passengers might be too busy to think about the weak. They are so pressed mentally with daily stress that they don’t have eyes to look around others. In addition, they are encountered with those in need everyday. It makes the passengers get used to ignoring them or think themselves that they are enough with charity because they have already helped one. Nevertheless, these reasons can’t be excuses for the passengers about not helping those who still remain helpless today. This infers there must be a bigger cause.
The two cases in previous two paragraphs are true and happening today. It’s sure that IT has connected people in distance and allowed them to easily communicate. They are intimate and kind to the unknown rather in the cyber world than the real world. Why is that? The answer can be found in how people get information. How did you know that people were dying of ebola virus in Africa? You knew that through watching TV, seeing newspaper and searching articles in the internet. This type of methods of collecting information makes us as viewers and spectators habitually when our brain gains information and leaves us in a passive attitude. In other words, people tend to watch those in need in the real world more than actually help them in their daily life, as they watch some bad news in TV and internet. On top of that, the development of the internet and useful devices such as smartphones that have made people more accessible to the internet has created invisible barriers around the users of it because they can do almost everything through the internet. For example, if you don’t know how to get to subway station, what would you do thirty years ago? Of course, you would ask someone to get there. Today, you can simply search for the information. Likewise, you are able to do anything through the internet and this has led people to prefer doing oneself to cooperating with others. This aspect has progressed and resulted in enlarging individual space and thickening invisible barriers among people in the physical world.
I agree that it's a problem that people's action is different from the cyber world and reality. And I think this difference is also from people's vanity. At the SNS, people are relplying to a post or press "like" at the post which is about the social problem. Some of them are posting or replying to truly want be the part of help for them. However, some people are press "like" on their facebook just to show off that they are warm-hearted people. Maybe their reaction to show off could be a way to let more people to know about the social problem. But by just pressing "like" cannot be a solution in reality. Knowing about social problem through cyber world should be connected to they way to offer a solution about the problem in real life.

ReplyDeleteEspecially this year regardless to the amount of the same food brands, many young founders are still copying famous food brand products. The cause of this trend can be seen by looking at this issue from a wider view. Due to slow economy it’s getting tough for young people to seek jobs. Recently, because of the recession, people are searching for a stable food item to be sold. In another point of view, this trend reflects that there is a low barrier in South Korea’s unstructured foundation food market. The low barrier makes it easier for founders to easily copy a specific food item which is popular in the industry. Therefore, the excessive competition between similar brands is making the problems in the food industry. However, copying famous food trends should be banned. In addition, if this problem develops into a legal matter the founders might have to change the concept of brand which makes problem worse. In order to reduce a great loss, young founders must create a new brand product to survive.
First of all, it is hard for young enterprisers to survive in a long term. There are many reasons young enterprisers fail, however, the biggest reason is that there is no discrimination among other each brands. Most young enterprisers think that they are familiar with the menu, service system and brand image and redesign it into a new brand. Unfortunately, their unstable operating system leads to failure in the end. For example, ‘안동찜닭’, ‘공차(버블티)’, ‘소프트리(벌꿀 아이스크림)’, ‘닭강정’ and so on, all made great success in the beginning. Afterwards, new enterprisers copied brands such as ‘봉추찜닭’, ‘버블트리’, ‘밀크카우’. However, most of these famous brands only lasted for a couple of years.
In addition, although young enterprisers started with a small amount of money by copying food brands, this can result in a big economical loss. Copying famous brands has many side effects because in the early periods it might show an high percentage of sales. However, if the two brand fight each other in a legal statement, in most cases the copied brand must give up the store. There are so many risks starting a brand which is not stable. For instance, ‘찜닭’ was a popular store last year. However, a high success rate of each store did not last long. In famous spots, every store had a similar brand nearby such as, ‘와룡안동찜닭’, ‘하회 안동찜닭’, ‘원조 안동 찜닭’, ‘안동 봉황찜닭’, which made a competition between each stores. As a result, 60% of the stores closed last year.
In conclusion, people should be aware that copying the same food item will not become successful in the long term. This is because first, young enterprisers will fail in a short period and secondly, the economically loss will be unexpectedly large. New enterprisers should develop their own know-how and stop imitating famous food brands. Also, the government should set the barrier higher to enter the foundation food market and young enterprisers should think of a creative item which will make a hit in the industry.
I think which restaurant to go is for customers to decide according to flavors, service, price and so on. If either of them make itself the best qualified one, won't the competition naturally be gone?

DeleteI think it's quite a problem. As you say, those situations come from the encourasing mood of founding their own businesses. Thesedays, it's really hard to get a job. However, if I do my own business, I don't have to worry about not having a job because I'm the CEO. People try to avoid the miserable situation, so they do the business, especially something new and profitable. That's why they start same food brands with similar name. But it doesn't look good because it doesn't quite different though they use different names. Then that makes consumers to sick of the same thing. So I think the government try to control the increasing brand product copy and employment system for young generation.

Hence, this globalization has lot of influence on economy. In the past, consuming domestic products were the major consumption of the countries. However, nowadays, people can buy anything from anywhere from the world. Through the FTA contracts among countries have freed production transportation in the world. Globalization in economy gives lots of change to us, especially agriculture and livestock industry in Korea. Farmers in Korea might have to give up on farming. In contrast, Vehicle and Mechanical industries can have major progress. In era of globalization, we cannot think of benefits of only one side. As a result, our agriculture and livestock industries must have competitiveness in global market.If not, our descendants may have to import all the rice that they need. Furthermore, Mechanical industries must enhance their competitiveness more. This is the way Korea can have progress in globalization.
One of the most benefitial thing about FTA is that we can buy foreign products so easily so Korean companies who were trying to force nations to buy their products with patriotism, will self-reflect themselves and change. DeleteI agree, Korean companies have been taking inappropriate benefits from their domestic customers. Unlike foreign companies such as those in US, Korean Companies think domestic customers as their "back up". These kind of trend must be changed as you said. Moreover, I also think that behavior of Korean government should be changed. Government tries to block or prevent customers from buying Korean Companies' product from foreign through website ( so called 해외직구 in Korean). It is so irony that Korean customers have to buy Korean product cheaper in foreign countries. Seeking for cheaper products is one of the rights for the customers but Government and Korean Companies are deperate to blocking customers from their rights.

DeleteThe idea that FTA should be opened partially is quite true. When FTA between US and Korea were on negotiation, there have been lots of protest against inlcuding rice on the list. However, since FTA is one of the international politics,everything can not be done in a way we all wanted. Therefore, some sacrifice must be needed, but Korean Government should have preparation for those sacrifices to avoid critical hardship for those who sacrifices.
The Benefits of solo travel
ReplyDeleteMany of my friends ask me, "Aren't you scared of traveling to country X all by yourself?"
This question always amazes me, as it really is an enriching experience. Of course, if I am extremely shy and have anxiety, I may have more troubles. However the great thing is that I don't have to fit into a group's agenda or disappoint anyone. Also I don't have to wait around for other people to get ready or do any other of the little everyday hassles travelers face.
Additionally, dealing with different budgets can be difficult, as I never want to be forced to spend more than I can afford. For example, I once backpacked Canada with a girl who was extremely cheap and I wouldn't splurge on any day trips or go to any bars or club. While doing the complimentary walking tours was nice, there was a lot more I wanted to do. However, I couldn't because she wanted me to do all our activities together. Sometimes it’s not easy to find someone who wishes to travel exactly like me.
I believe a person learns a lot in solitude. And I can meet more people when traveling all by myself and I've had some amazing encounters.
Actually I'm the person who do not like to being alone, especially about the travel. Because I want to share that great happiness of watching or traveling, with someone I like. And I just like to getting together with people. I agree that it is not easy to find someone who wishes to travel exactly like me. When I traveled with my friends, I've been endured disadvantages from difference budget, personality, etc. However, even though there were disadvantages from differences, for example, I couldn't do activites that I want because of my friends, I just enjoyed the time with them. Also from the travel, I could see another side of my friends, learned lots of things from my freinds, and learned how to get along harmoniously. There's also lots of things to learn from traveling together with friends!
DeleteI also one of the person who prefer to do something alone. Because I really don't like the situation that comes from opinion conflicts especially during traveling. You know, there is a proverb in Korea, "If there is lots of people in the boat, the boat goes to the mountain (Too many cooks spoil the stew)". When I went to USA this summer vacation, our school students were really huge group, because it was almost 130 people. Of course, with many people we had really great time, but there were also some problems and troubles on the last week. Through that experience there is one thing I definitlely realized. Traveling alone looks like dangerous and scary sometimes, but as you say, we can learn more in solitude and meet other people more open-minded. Therefore, I totally agree with your thinking about travelling all by yourself.
DeleteI also had similar experience of yours. I travelled alone for 6 day in Korea about 3 years ago. I used the train pass called 'Na-ilro' which is very famous around our age. I travelled Paju, Junju, Bosung, Pusan, Gyung-ju and etc. It was really nice to have a time just for myself so I didn' need to care about school, job, or problems of my life. I felt really free. I thought a lot about myself and my family. Also, I think I grew up with that experience. I had to handle all my stuffs and schedules. I made a reservation at guest house and Jjim jil bang, set the budget and made a plan. During the trip some variables came out but I had to handle it. It was hard and exhausting but certainly worth to try! After that experience I recommend others to leave the city alone!

Many people are worrying about the side effects of the artificial womb. They said, it might cause trend to make light of human life and some people might produce army with artificial womb. But I think even now bad people like IS rape women to produce their armies and this outrageous acts doesn’t even costs. So, using artificial womb to produce army is weak argument.
The ripple effects that artificial womb would bring us is huge. Women can be extricated from pregnancy problems. All they need is healthy egg from woman and sperm form man. Until now so many women had to give up their career because of their pregnancy. Many companies in Korea prefer men because most of women quit their job because of the pregnancy. It’s not women’s choice to carry baby for 10 months but they suffer from that. After the artificial womb became widely spread women have the choice and it will bring whole different world that men and women are equal in every part of life.
