Today we are hovering in the massive flow of information. From time to time, people who work in the commercial business or advertising agencies are trying to take advantage of it. Today, those marketers are very glad to use any kind of information into their marketing strategies even though it is possibly misused. Now they are using not only personal data into their strategies but also physical data to make their dreams come true. ‘Neuro marketing’ is one of their trendy skills used for making us to spend more money for commercial products or services. It is the combination of words, ‘Neuron’ and ‘Marketing’. Neuron that refers to our physical data is a nerve system in our brain that controls received information from outside. Literally this marketing skill is all about human nerves. I think it is such a cautious issue to collect information from brain by marketers. We could be perfectly deceived by who uses our neuron data. So I insist there has to be a regulated rules or limitation when marketers try to use Neuro Marketing for their profit.
First, if Neuro Marketing is deployed on a commercial scale, people can be easily manipulated. For example, KIA, a Korean automobile company, named their vehicles, ‘K7’ after their tested output. They found that human nerves actively react by a sound of alphabet ‘K’ and number ‘7’. The company used FMRI (Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging) which directly measures the blood flow in the brain to analyze human nerve reaction. It looks fascinating at first but there are possibilities for us to have a big mistake. When you buy a car, the most important factor should be its function and your budget, not the name of the car. There could be people who are simply attracted by the name of car, not knowing they would be regretful with other concerns.
Second, our nerve system is not just influenced by single condition. Our feeling is so complicated that it would not be appealed for a sole specific irritation. So many things could affect our sentiment such as weather, human relationships, and any kind of risks that happens from outside. This means Neuro Marketing that are based on our nerve system is able to give a false alarm. If the errors caused by this false alarm affect someone very mentally fragile, ill, or delicate, this smart looking marketing will be nothing but harm.
Finally, a moral issue should come to the fore. For having a better systems in Neuro Marketing, marketers would experiment hard on unconsciousness from brain. Do you really think it is okay to test human brain besides medical purpose to save human lives? Collecting medical information for advertisement doesn’t make any sense at the first place because humans cannot be object for the scientific test to know how to sell well. The boundary we are looking at today for our own sake will absolutely collapse. Our society is already in some kind of Chaos. We can’t drag our morality in to Mammonism. We don’t need more of that.
But I also can’t help myself consenting with the existence of fascinating method from Neuro Marketing. For example, HONDA, a Japanese motor company, has made a specially designated bike which reminds people of angry face. They found out that the angry face looking bike is easier to be acknowledged by drivers or immediately noticed by people on the street. This basic application of brain reaction will surely decrease any bike related accident. However, what if there are some people who more likely pay their attention to smiling face? Also, neuron test costs very high so it can’t be taken for multiple times and only a few people about under a hundred can be tested at a time. For the many reasons discussed above, I would still oppose aggressive Neuro Marketing and ask for regulation. Is it natural phenomenon that we have to accept it as the evolution of modern science? it is very interesting, i never knew this kind of marketing and i'm curious about side effect of neuro marketing. i mean like naming the car 'k7' is not that harmful. it's one way to advertise their product, i don't fully agree with it but still idea is little brilliant. so i'm kind of okay using neuro marketing for ad, unless it's harm for our nerve system.
The Nov.13 terror attacks killed 130 people in Paris and feeling of fear, panic and frustrations are spreading rapidly. We all have been known that the IS is threatening whole world but no one has been expected they will attack the center of Paris. Paris and other countries, they proclaimed that the war begins and they will destroy the IS. Sadly, Europe has experienced a number of terror attacks in recent years. However, our country is not a safety area because IS, they said that our country is just a part of their resist target which belongs to crusader alliance. The IS, they have been committing heinous crimes. Moreover they had executed and uploaded and published on the media hostages or civilians cruelly and recent days they threatened us that they will plant a bomb or make a terror in the COEX. The shocking one was that there are some people who support and advocate the IS in public. How come people advocate the IS? I would rather think they had no brain at all. People like us, civilians, we can’t do anything, just stand or stay at home and gawk at the news. For quite a long period, try not to travel other country is good for life extension I think and the IS, they have been extending their power and influence whole world so not only Paris but every country must try to eradicate the IS.

Some terrorist organization related to IS is planning to install a bomb in COEX. We korea first didn't care much becasue we are, aisa, is very far from their base geographically so that we also couldn't really feel it by ourselves. But now for example, there were 'Kim', a korean young boy, who wnated to be involved in the their planning of attack the innocent world. This situation occured because today we are very closely realted to each other by SNS system. I can'y help myself consenting with your saying that we can't just leave it as other's problem and do nothing. I think we are involved to this huge case as a cell of the world, and we should take a action to this huge attack. We all should cooperate with each other.
I think so too. They did really terrible thing to innocent people. However, I think we, as civilians, can do something! Not just staying home or gawking at the news. I think we can tell Koreans what IS did was crazy and horrible thing and we should all be prepared for attacks. We all use social media and say whatever we want so we can just post what we think about it. A lot of Koreans don't worry about the attacks from IS because we have live peacefully with North Korea so we think the thing with IS is not a big deal. Thus we have to alarm that we are now in danger so we should do something.

First, people will have a chance to travel space and a lot of planets. They can go to space with spaceships and live in the spaceships for a few months. But I am also wondering the negative side of this enormous progress. First, if there is chance to travel into the spcae, the bad people who don't have any expectation in our world are willing to run away into the space with no responsibility for their guilt. 여주미, Julie I also think that technology has positive impact on society. However, as there are lots of advantages, there are also many disadvantages that will occur in the society. People may become fat because the convenience of technology let people exercise less. Furthermore, the technology development can lead to generation gap between the older and the younger generation. As it become more developed, it will be difficult for the older generation to use the technology. Therefore, the generation gap can be increased. These days, I am really interested in automatic driving by computer programmed car. Automatic driving technology is now coming to our life quickly. Many car companies start to introduce new technology, through LA car expo 2015. I insist that it will develop quickly because not only car companies, but also IT Corporation like google also interested in developing this technology. However, today, I want to talk about not a technology prospect, but about ethical problem. It’s maybe weird to talk about ethnic when you’ve heard about automatic driving technology. I found one article that one group conducts one experiment which is name as “The reason why automatic driving car should be programed as killing people”. They set a situation. The situation is like this “If a car is driven 100km/s and find out 10 people just jump off the street, the driver would change his direction and injured by himself or just hit that 10 people in front of the car. How about just one person jump off, or how about a dog is try to cross the street.” Surely automatic driving is managed by computer programming. That means that computer doesn’t have any ethical thinking. So, the program might have set as someone’s ethical decision, not every single driver. The paper said when they ask this dilemma to many people, they reply that they would change direction, but many of them said they don’t want to buy a car which is programmed as changing direction in that situation. How about legal problem? Who’s in charge of that? Will it be driver’s responsibility or car companies’ (or programmers who decide to set a program like that) responsibility?
I think this is really interesting story. Actually there are always some 'gray area' between our ethical problem and technology prospect. I am also wondering about who's in charge of this problem. Nobody cannot decide that one person is not important than 10 people. Every single person is important and even a dog on the street is a important in our lives. Maybe they could develop the skills more advanced so that this kind of problem would never happens.
That is the very question we all need to discuss at society! Whether you drive a self-driving car or not, they must be programmed with these ethical questions and pre-programmed to maneuver a given situation. Hmm...we all know that technology has double-sideness, but I think it's different from in pros and cons perspective. It's more like ethical issue that we have to solve before we enter the artificial intelligence world. However, we don't have the answer what is the right thing to do, so I don't have a answer right now but I think this problem makes people alert that we are facing not just technology but also ethical issue, too.
Just like the self-driving car you have mentioned, any type of new technology is always accompanied by its side effects. This is the reason why prototypes are made first, and then through a lot of modifications based on various experiments, the final products are produced. I personally think that debating over "The unwanted but possible" bad situations and concluding with right or wrong answers are pretty far-fetched. The experiment situation in the article is one of the typical examples of regarding ethical issues with technology. Since car accidents are directly related to human lives, and lecal problems for taking responsibilitiy for them are ambiguous, this technology should be, of course, more carefully developed. To give and example of solutions for those accidents in my personal idea, government can make seperate self-driving-car-lanes, set lowered speed limit for them and make special traffic lights on traffic. For car companies, I'm not sure how much they are advanced in this technology field, but I believe solutions focused on human life would definitely come out soon.
It's so interesting topic. I want to talk about how we have to set ethical thinking in computer. It looks like deciding that who's life is important between person in a car and people outside of the car. But before we talk about ethnic program, we need to confirm what machine is. Machine is machine. It is just method for human, not something to decide something. It is can not be and shouldn't be something to think like human by itself. For example, knife cuts everything touched at blade, not choosing what to cut. If you think it is not appropriate example, what about laser surgery instrument(LSI)?. LSI cuts everything with laser but cutting is highly controlled. So it can make delicate surgery. When something invades to the part of surgery or the part of surgery moves, LSI's sensor recognizes invasion as much as possible and stopping laser or move to the part as much as it moves. But if it is too quick change to sensor, machine just cuts. This is original machine. It is reasonable to prevent something from invading and patient from moving during the surgery. Otherwise we need to develope better sensor or wait for innovative technology. Machine just do what they are ordered including stopping ability when something interupts at least now. Machine has never had ethical think. So it is more reasonable to think that car goes as laser unless sensoring. So automated cars should be programmed to go unless it can stop as the car sensors something. Charge problem is so interesting as well but i have no idea. Anybody has good idea?
It is very interesting topic. I saw little different article. automatic driving car is driven by computer perfectly. So that problem doesn't worry thing. The automatic driving car has solution already. Their first thesis is stop ahead of the other thing. So we dont need worry about that no more. Then that technology is not commercialization yet. It can solved slowly.
What do you hope for? Many students in Korea say “I don’t know.” There are many students who don’t have their dream. Korean government thought that students need many opportunities to experience many kinds of jobs. So, Korean government adopted a new curriculum, free learning semester. Free learning semester is enforced in middle school. Students can actively participate in class without exam pressure during free learning semester. I support this curriculum.
For the first reason, there are lots of jobs in the world. But if students don’t know, they can’t get any chance to dream these jobs. That’s why schools have to be a place for students to get some information about job, experience lots of things, and know about themselves. For the second reason, Korean students suffer from the exam pressure so they can’t look back themselves. The former curriculum that just sets a high value on grade gives a lot of stress to students. Because of this curriculum, students don’t have a time to know themselves and find what they want to do.
Of course, free learning semester isn’t a perfect curriculum. It has a lot of problems that have to be solved. However it’s just the beginning. Thank you for this information. I also do think it's positive movement toward giving students a chance to find their dreams and passions. This is why I advocate students to travel, do internships, and to experience all the variety of things that life has to offer. I remember when I was in high school, a friend of my mom's suggested me to take a year off from school to travel and explore but I didn't and went straight into high school. I regret not having done that as I spent much of my undergraduate studies trying to find myself as I changed my major several times. I would encourage everyone to get a part time job, travel, or do something out of the ordinary.

강성아 (Rachel) Yes, this program is only offered one semester in middle school. During the 2015, some middle school choose this program because it wasn't essential. However in 2016, every middle school will choose free learning semester. I also think that it should be continue to high school.
I think it's not really helpful to find what you want. I think did those things when we were in high, middle school. Instead I think it will be nice if theres a thing like in England. you can have a year to do what you want and find the thing before you go to university, then you can go to university or do the thing you found.

I do hope this program will be generalize as soon as possible. As we all know that our country's education system and the atmosphere of study are awful. These days most of things are done by other's which is government or parents, which means everyone acting like a robot or doing passively most things. Children, teenagers, adolescents, they are losing their dream or they don't even try to think why they are studying or struggling to get the goal. That program should be generalize for everyone. That is the first step to make people actively.
I am teaching middle school students nowadays. Free learning semester is on second semester of middle school now. This is a new policy and not yet established but this is essential for widening student's sight. However, this policy is criticized by private educational institute or parents who want their offsprings to study like old-school parents and also by some students, because they don't know how it is important to find student's aptitude and interest. Now korea is the country which has the highest proportion of bachelor's degree over total population and actually the degree is meaningless. After graduation of university, many people go to work to not their field(aptitude) but just stable and high wage position. This is the reason why we need to find student's aptitude and interest. We need to watch this policy and get feedback from students for the future. It has growing pain though.
I am interested in Korean education even though I am not majoring it. However, I am still wondering that Korea education's general problem is up to student's attention or system. Free learning semester is ideally acceptable. However, I am not sure it will works well. That's because Korean education doesn't support any personal ideas. Do you know hologram? Yes this technology is very familiar for us. Hologram used many entertaining part. In concert, convention meeting, etc. But this technologies development is unfinished. Holography is the science and practice of making holograms. Typically, a hologram is a photographic recording of a light field, rather than of an image formed by a lens, and it is used to display a fully three-dimensional image of the holographic subject, which is seen without the aid of special glasses or other intermediate optics. Hologram isn’t perfect technology, so if hologram will be completed, we can use this, like SF movie. We don’t need a TV, because we can see 3D image without special glasses. Also we can touch 3D image, that like a Tony stark in the movie ‘iron man’.
It can used many part. For example doctors will see patient conditions lively before the surgery. Also in the collapse site, Hologram show that situation in destroyed building, so rescuer can save victim easily. There were photo and video in there and it looked like real people so I was really surprised that the skill of hologram in Korea is developed well. If hologram technology is fully developed, our standard of living would be much higher. Along with its advantages, there must be new type of crime or threat to our society making use of this technology, but I just can't wait to see our daily lives becoming similar to what I've seen on SF movies.
I remember when i first looked at the hologram in the amusement park. It was not vivid and just made of two or three color. But as the technology progressed, precise hologram, which looks like movie image would be possible. If that kind of hologram is realized, it will surely be fascinating.
What do you think about this large companies threat small traders? I think big companies are good for consumers but not to small seller. I recently find stores that is under the big company. I did not know that points when we buy something are so big and useful. This is reason why I usually find the store of big company. I wanted to buy a jelly. There was a store near by me but I crossed a crosswalk and bought a jelly in Olive young. I felt so sorry for small trader but I liked the clerk’s service of Olive young and it was easy to pay by a credit card even it was a small sum. They are managed systematically. I think these reasons make the unification of consumption.
However, here is a case that there is a new department store in Pangyo that we call technovalley. Hyundai department store is opened and many people who lives near that place and who sell food or clothes complain about that department store. Many people visit there because there are many delicious food stores like Magnolia and EATaly. Traffic jam gets worse and small sellers can sell their products well because of that big one. Small sellers argue that it is unfair that big companies are too close to their store. I want to find a middle ground that government give a money for the small sellers so they can make price down to counter to the big companies.
Yes, I agree with your opinion. I also go to large markets if I’m no busy to get a 1+1 or big sale. Because of the large companies, small markets close their store. Governments want to solve this problem, so they pressed large companies to get a vacation day every two weeks. But I think it has no effect. I think governments require other solution to solve this problem.
Yes, the government thought that the holiday of large market like E-mart or Costco is a good way to solve the problem of small markets but it just caused the comfortable situation to customer. I think we need to find some other ways like giving a subsidy for smaller trader or make a membership for whole small store of one region.
여주미, Julie I think this issue is difficult to solve. The government has been considering many solutions to protect the small markets. The government regulates big company to shorten the operation time and to close the deparment stores two days a month for the small markets. This has been implementing well but i think this regulation can't make small market to survive. I think goverment should strengthen the regulation to solve this problem. For example, there are some pizza and chicken that the big companies are selling. Emart are releasing Emart pizza and Lotte Mart had released chicken in reasonable price. Government should ban big companies to sell these products because this is infringement to the small makrets.
I agree with your opinion. I live nearby Pangyo Hyundai department store, I saw that they kill nearby business district. You know, AK plaza in Seohyeon Station will be sell off. I think it because of Pangyo. So big companies and small companies have to help each other. And also, small companies need competitiveness to survive between big companies.
Well that kind of issues are occurred business area or commercial zone. The problem is a government do not even try to regulate. Not only pangyo area but every commercial area there is a big market and small market. All the small market are suffering from deficit by big market. The small market, they don't have any proper solution, Big market? why don't they help each other for all happiness? These days there is no even piece of paper mercy in front of money. This problem can cause severe problem that korea is monopolized by big companies.Then no small business to compete arises and consumers should follow big companies' policy and price. I also go to the large department or mall although I know it is unfair to the small shops. It is because I can buy some things that I need more easily and conveniently. Also, I can trust the quality of foods or machines in the large malls because they manage or check them more regualarly than small shops do. Therefore, small shops should need some advantages or differences with large shops to attract people.
I agree with you. I like to go large company’s shop. It is everywhere so I can find it easily. Also, they offer nice service and lots of products. On the contrary, small shops offer not good service (not all of small shops of course but I felt unpleasant often.) and they have a few products so I don’t have a choice. So I think small shops shouldn’t just complain. For example, ‘SULBING’ was not large company but it has about 400 chain stores now. So I think small shops shouldn’t follow large shops and they have to strengthen the competitiveness.
Actually I prefer big seller also. Because of their services! The big sellers, they hire workers and educate them. The education program from the owner is about 'How the workers behave to the customer nicely, the attitude of the workers ; kindness'. And the workers in the big mart do not complain when we use our credit card. Small retailers hate credit card because they charge fee. I understand that small retailers have less money, but they have to treat their customers kindly, if they don't want to lose in the market.
It’s so sad but I like large companies too. They have diverse items that I wanted to buy and easy to pay for a card. There are many small markets that closed in 1 year. However government can’t suggest proper solution for this problem. I think they have stake between large companies. So year by year, it is hard to live as small traders.
These days we are having GMO food. But we don't notice it. In korea, commercially producing GMO food is not allowed. But GMO Corns are imported from abroad. They are included in many food so consumers demand companies to reveal their GMO import records. But it is not open to consumers cause it is company's private information.
GMO also have problem as well as many advantages. It is reported that toxicity and alergy could be expressed. And GMO could affect other creature with their gene.
Despite the controversy GMO will be used more commonly in the future. companies may want to develope GMO food for profit. But almost every consumer may have doubts on GMO food and may try to avoid GMO food as long as they can.

I didn't know here is similar topic with mine. GMO has been recognized as not healthy food or harmful food, but there is no actual bad result. Many reports are saying "GMO is harmful .....potentially" like this. I think it is too exaggerated by press. Every food has allergy potential and bad effect. Even if you eat organic food everyday, food has bad effect. Food has two side of blades, giving us not only energy but also waste, disease, genetic mutation, fat, aging effect and toxin. Many people in Korea have a negative view about vegetarian. People think that if you become a vegetarian you won’t get enough nutrients that you need for your body, so children can’t grow well as the kids who eat meat. People think that all you can eat is green grass. And people think of you as a weirdo if you are a vegetarian. Like, he or she is so picky. Yes, it may not give you as many nutrients when you eat meat or that person is picky and that you have to eat more green stuffs. But I think it’s really contradicted about people loving animals like dogs and cats but has no feelings about pigs or chickens that we eat. It’s the same animal, same lives. Of course the meat is delicious and it’s hard to quit, I’m not a vegetarian either. I’m not asking or persuading you to become a vegetarian but I just want to tell you about the animals we eat. And maybe just decrease the amount of the meat you eat, like what I’m trying to do these days.
In old times, the meat was hard to get and expensive to buy. So there was no need to raise pigs, chickens or cows as many as we do nowadays. But today it’s just like rice it’s everywhere on our table. The increase of the demand in meat people needed to grow huge amount of animals so the “factory farming system” developed. It’s really terrible. Here is the way animals get raised in the factory farm.
For chickens, they grow up in a cage which is a size of a A4 paper and get their beak cut off, in case they peck each other of a stress. Oh, and a male chicks they can’t even grow up because they go into the huge bag and get sealed up to death. Male chickens get a though meat so they get killed. And chickens that lay eggs they just keep laying eggs till they can’t lay eggs and get killed. People don’t turn off the light so they don’t go to sleep and get a hormone shots to lay eggs.
For pigs, they are also grown in a small small cage where they can not even turn around. They also get their teeth pulled out and cut off the tail. For male pigs they get their penis pulled out because the meat can be tough and smelly. For mother pigs they just get mating every time when they can get babies. And they don’t get to do anything they need to do when they birth. Like having hays ready for the warmth or stuffs that are instinct. They just birth in a cold concrete in a dark and crowded small dirty cage.
I can’t tell you all about the factory farming. But it is really horrible. But people turn their faces away from those issues or videos or articles. Because you don’t really want to know a bad thing about what you want to do or eat or have. But I think many people should just at least know about what they are eating. There are videos you can watch in PETA or just google it. I’m just saying that we don’t have to eat meat 24/7.
여주미, Julie Animal abuse is not only occur in factory farming but also happens when making clothes. Recently, i saw a video that people abused goose. They were picking feathers of goose to make jackets. They were picking alive geese' feathers with hands and the geese were screaming because of the pain. when the skin got teared, people just sew their skin without any anesthesia. When the geese feathers grow again, they pick the feathers again and again. It was too cruel to watch it and people should respect animal at least they don't feel pain.

I agree too. Health suplement food can't be better than food. There are many vitamin, omega-3, red jinsam etc. The problem is we need to avoid some poor quality product, such as fake material which shocked us a few month ago. Comsuming nutients through natural food is the best if possible like vitamin and omega-3.

Nowadays some vegetables are more expensive than meat so I heard that recently the poor are fatter than the rich. They can easily buy meat in cheap price. I also saw a documentary about the chickens that are raised not in proper way. They are just born and raised in very small space. They put the chicks in small space so they make chicks fat. People just feed them in that small space and sell them easily. This mechanism was so sad that we are too cruel to eat the meat. I think the nutrition of vegetarians is just stereotype that meat eaters just say. My mother really do not like to eat meat so I understand.

I'm very sorrowful to say this, but my dog died last weekend. He was my family and my best friend at the same time for about 13 years. I never thought of losing him so I miss him so much. He was sick at the end because 13year-old for dog age, it's like a grandmother or grandfather for human age. Although it's very expensive to cure a pet at a veterinary hospital (because no insurance is allowed for the animals), my family did our best to take care of him. However, some people around us suggested to do an euthanasia instead of using so much money. I was shocked when I heard this. It was hard for me to understand their thought. I couldn't think of killing my dog even though he's still alive. Now that he died in spite of our best effort to make him healthy again, I don't regret at all of using much money. To me, euthanasia is a terrible choice for their pets. It's related to moral problem. Pets are also living things, they might have a willing to live just like people. It's true that we spend a lot of money for our animal's sickness. Because of this cost, It can be hard to do all of the cures that hospitals recommend. However, we need to do any other efforts to make their pets better. We should not give up just because of the money. Think of the beautiful, happy days you had with your pets. 여주미, Julie I'm sorry that your dogs died.. you must be really sad because you spent over 10 years with him. These days, lots of pets are abandoned because they cost a lot to care. Most of these pets are sent to abandoned animal center. Some lucky pets met another owner but others who didn't meet another owners are left in the animal center. The pets that have no hope to meet another owner are killed without pain. I also think this is not humans rights to kill animals' life. It is immoral to do such a things. To prevent those things to happen, i think people should be more responsible for the pets. If people can't make a full responsible for their pets, they don't have a right to have a pet. Sorry to hear that. 3 years ago I have a pets. It was hamsters. And that was my first pets, so I did't have so much information about raising pets. And they lived for a year. Many people share their information or hot issue in real time. People can get information and learn it easily.
Third, we can widen our foot on earth. For example, when we go into friend’s Facebook we can see our friend’s friend. We add a friend in that route. We make friends with variety job or social status. Even if we can make foreigner friends.
Last, in company workers, they can advertise their company for free. They just make an account, post it and share for friends. For instance, many corporations have their own SNS account to advertise their company, campaign and events.

I used to use Facebook, instagram, and other many SNS application. However, not I just use Instagram. the one thing that I dont like about Facebook is they have too much wrong information and it makes people can''t see the real facts. Also, I don't want my friends to put "like" on that stupid informations. Also, I have one friend who believe that information without filtering and keep saying Facebook is his evidence to say something (especially political issue). I hate that. I really hate that. First, technological advances may bring about less demand in labor market. Machine automation has been replacing human workers. For instance, self-service machines are increasing in theater, library and gas station. Second, it causes obesity. Frequent use of technology lead people gets fat. As technology has developed, everything became possible without any limitation. For example, people don’t need to go bank, market, and even academy because it is all available through the internet. They can use internet bank, online shopping mall, and online lecture for their own convenience. Therefore, the obesity is on the rise because as people use more technology. Third, technology decreases the face to face communication. It seems like technology facilitates communication. Many people are interacting through the SNS such as twitter, facebook and instagram. To me, development of communications technology is a two-edged sword. My father have worked abroad four years. He worked in Middle East area, so It's difficult to reach him by phone. But we could use the internet. We got in touch with him by mobile network service, such as ‘Kakao voice’ or ‘Tango’. My family took a benefit from technology. This “Spoon class theory "assumes a person's economic status is determined by their parents' assets. People think class mobility is hard to achieve. They think if you are gold spoon, you can get private education, enter the elite university and go abroad for language training. So they feel listless and they do not try to live well.

Spoon class theory is sad and efficient theory to show korean unvisible class. This theory shows us how people live up to their parents and it is changed not by just indivisual efforts but by parents money. Many people worked hard, studied hard and thought hard but finally they couldn't succeed as much as rich people even though they had harder time and did better than the rich people. That's why people think society class is determined when they were born. It is super difficult to make big money with study and even work, because wage is lower than people need. While GMO is made, genetic engineering is used for modifying genes. Many GMOs have been made from the time genetic engineering is found. Thanks to this technique, we could get more efficiently growing food. The first GMO for product was tomato which doesn't soften for a long time. This tomato could be transported further and sold for longer time in market. It was like innovation in farming. And more GMOs have been developed like insect attack-resistant soybeans and corns. All of these are plants. But 19.11.2015, GMO salmon was allowed for food by FDA. GMO salmons take just half time to grow up and they need just half feed than normal ones. US consumer organization criticize FDA's decision because GMO salmon doesn't need GMO mark to notice to consumers and many people worry about its side effects. But I think it is not bad for us. There are three reasons. The first reason is that GMO has been consumed by people for couple of decades and nothing reported about bad effects to us. Many people worry about its unknown effect, but genes are from the other species in nature. So it is difficult to expect extremely bad effect. Secondly, if we feed them just half, salmon prices will be decreased and we can save our environment by reducing feed. Lastly, all GMO salmons are only raised in sterile condition and in specific farm to prevent GMO salmons from ruining ecosystem.

Well sometimes it is really hard to remain a relationship between people moreover it is much harder to make a good relationship between girl friend or boyfriend. I know that women and men usually think differently and it's natural thing so that we can't change. However, I think this reason should not justify their fight(between a couple). They should talk a lot to understand eachother and fix their problem. These days, I go to the kindergarten once a week for the teaching practice because my major is child education. And I was really surprised that they teach English to kindergarten students. Teacher told me that it’s because many parents want their children to learn English earlier. They believe it’s better to learn foreign languages at younger age. And these demands created boom in growing number of English kindergarten in Korea. However I don’t think that English kindergarten is good for their children. There are two reasons why I disagree with sending children to an English kindergarten Firstly, Kindergarten students don’t have enough cognitive skills and motivation to learn English. They can’t even speak perfect Korean and they can’t even write Korean as well. At this period, it’s more important to learn proper Korean. Also learning two languages at the same time could be confusing to young children. Getting confidence in their first language should be priority Secondly, there are a lot of other things to learn at their age. They are young and there are more important things that they can learn only at that age such as Creativity and imaginative power. And that period could be crucial time to develop essential skills they need in their life such as sociability and personality. Because of those reasons, I think teaching English to their kindergarten age kids is wasting time and wasting money.
As time goes by, english is more needed by society when it comes to finding job. That's why parents want their siblings to learn english earlier. I agree to your opinion that learning Korean is more important than English. It is because as you said, Korean is thier first language. After they learn and understand Korean, they should learn other foriegn languages. It is because learning first language at first is more effective to learn many kinds of languages. Also, they should learn and experience other things such as get along with other friends or social ability at young age because language skill is not the most important part in life.
I also go to the kindergarten once a week and I also watched that they teach English to children. My professor taught me that child have to play and eat well. Also kindergarten teacher have to care them to be a child with an enquiring mind. So I was shocked because in early childhood education field, it was completely different from what I learned. What was worse, a girl said to me that she goes to the English, ballet, and taekwondo academies in spite of she is only 3 years old. (In Korea age, she is just 5.) I was very shocked and felt sorry for her. I think it is just greed of adults. They don’t know what is important to their child. I think they should get parents education program.
I don’t think learning two languages at the same to children is serious problem. If the Korean children lived in the English-speaking countries, they could learn English easily. Because they can acquire a language naturally by living in an English-speaking environment. And it wouldn’t seriously affect to them. The problem is coercive education by their parents. English kindergarten didn’t offer children an English-speaking environment. They acquire naturally not the English, but the stress.
I agree with you Jessie. In the kindergarten age, expressing their desires or feelings is the most important I think. Communicating well with their parents and friends is key to be well educated. Because they know what the parents say, they can understand their parents. Also parents should know what the child say. If a child can't communicate with his or her parents, the child will cry peevishly but parents can't understand what their child wants. So, the child may become a grizzler. What it comes down to is, acquiring one language perfectly and fast seems more important in that age.
I agree with your opinion. I also go to the kindergarten to do teaching practice. Our kindergarten do the English class, too. When I watched that class, I don’t think they understand the English. They just memorize word sound with picture card that teacher shows them. I think they don’t have enough skills to learn foreign language.
I agree with some opinion. But there is a report that children who learn English earlier can listen and speak more fluently. And these days more and more parents teach English to their children. Then do the others who are not learn English stand far from the starting line? And do they can’t learn sociability or personality because of learning English?
김혜원(Eden) A month ago, my cousin got married. There was a surprising thing about her wedding, it is that they prepared for wedding themselves. They prepared themselves for all of things, from location to gifts for guests. she got married in her church, and reduced guest number. They could make own food for the wedding with their friends because of less guests. She designed the wedding invitations and the bouquet, and also took wedding pictures herself, not in photo studio. There was no officiant's message, just took marriage vows and danced. It was like ‘house party’. She made a simple wedding dress with her friend.(She told me that she gave a small amount of money and a meal to friend) Because she didn't have enough money to buy house, and wedding planners asked for a lot of money, she made this decision. They said self wedding is a very memorable experience, although it was very time consuming and physically exhausting. Their wedding was not that big, but she seems to be the happiest woman in th world. These days, high house prices and too much wedding expenses increase the number of self-wedding couple. I heard that lots of classes for women who prepare self-wedding are opened, such as DIY bouquet or wedding cake baking. What's you guys’ opinion of self-wedding? Do you want to have self-wedding in the future? I think it is meaningful and cost less, but seems to be busy and tough.. It require high (my own) personnel expenses. Do you think it will really reduce the wedding cost?
i agree with you. these day i think most people prefer big wedding than smal wedding, i'm not sure.. but wedding is not a show off. it's more like celebrate and new start of lovers and "spending too much money for big fancy wedding?", i don't agree with it. i would rather go big fancy honeymoon to abroad. moreover if we prepare our own wedding it would be much cheeper unless we want to have big golden wedding place like full of crystal and hundreds of survents. anyway these day many movies and TV shows are showing preparing own marriage, and it looks funny and memoriable. so i'm thinking maybe i'll have special wedding for me and my wife.
These days, many people including some celibrities such as Hyo-Ri Lee take small wedding. It can be nice and special memories in couples' lifves. Also, they can save some money by doing small wedding and spend money buying some things such as furnitures. It is beneficial for the couples who need much money to live again with their sweethearts because they need a new house, furnitures and so on. That's why getting small wedding is good decision for the couples' future.
I think self- wedding is good thing. In Korea, the newly married couple spends lots of money to get marriage because it is a family event. Of course self-wedding can be tired and tough to prepare wedding but I think preparing wedding with wedding planner is tired and tough too. Wedding planner will give us many options and we have to choose all of them. So we have to compare and search about them. Also wedding planner can tell us about other people’s wedding so we will compare ourselves to others. So I think self-wedding with my own way is happier than prepare with wedding planner. It is meaningful and cost less like you said.
I love this idea. Self wedding is one of my ideal type of wedding ceremony. I think there are too much overcharged wedding culture through out the country. I heard recently that it need at least 10000000 won to prepare for marriage, and that's why many young couple just tend to gave up being married. I don't understand why people should pay a lot of money on that. Marriage is not all about social treatment, but about combining two people as a family. So, your idea is worth thinking about our generation's culture and if we need to fix it, we need to at least try to change it.
I totally agree with self wedding. I've always wanted to do this not just because wedding needs lot of money, but for a forever memory in my life. I don't want to have a wedding which is same with every other people. I want my own wedding, you know? However, it's somewhat hard to do like this because wedding is not just for me and my husband. In korea, both my parents and my partner's parents get involved in their children's wedding. It's an old thought, but lot of parents want to follow traditional ways so they spend lot of money in wedding and for the presents eachother. I think it's important to persuade both parents for this self wedding.
When I read your opinion, I have a positive thinking of self-wedding. Groom and bride made their wedding by themselves, so it would be memorable and meaningful. But I think both self-wedding and formal wedding are exhausted. Anyway, wedding is a ceremony, they have to show everybody their marriage. So they cost a money and welcome everybody. 조윤준(Jay) 201132532 Do you all remember the debate we had in class about a man claiming he had been raped by woman? This unfamiliar topic interested me and got me thinking rest of the day. For those who don't remember what was the story we talked over, here is the brief situation. On friday, a man and a woman in a party got drunk and had a good time ending up in bed having relationship. The next day, the man accused the woman of rape. Regardless of man's position, the court judged innocence of the woman, with a reason that males are physically, biologically inborn with a mechanism of getting aroused by any woman, any time and can enjoy having sex. This case was delt in U.S. but I have looked up on the internet about Korea's law. There is a law regarded with rape, only in a way of man on woman. However, in some cases, woman on man can fall under rape, only when woman is on socially superior position over man. This means, for example, female boss on male at work, female teacher on student in school, and so on. Back to the story about the case, I agree with the fact that its mostly man committing sexual crime, but the reason the court gave is not scientifically proven or exactly true. As far as I know of male, as one being, when man is physically stimulated by woman, the man would be aroused in extremely high possibility, but this cannot support the man enjoys every sexual situation and always assume man would want to have sex. So to conclude my opinion, the court's judgement was unfair. How do you guys think?
It's interesting that woman on man can be pleaded guilty as well. The American court that we talked about in class, it's true that they made a dicision that the man did the rape just because thier body reacted automatically and did not consider about their psychological thing at all. However, I think law just deal with only facts that doesn't change in any situation. You need a definite evidence if you want to proof your innocence. In this case, even though man did not want to sleep with that woman and didn't raped the woman, there's no evidence that we can see. Men can't proof their mental things in front of the court. That's why I think it's unfair to all of the men. Also I think this is the reason why the court judged the man just by the physical, biological things(which is science->fact).
I totally agree with Jay and 한울. This is not fair in aspect of science, process to case and logically as well. If we take court's decision, men are always aroused by any sexual touch. Then we can think a man can get aroused even though the man doesn't want sex with someone. Then the guy in the case could have sex without his will but by partner because men get always aroused whatever the situation is. With that theory, it is contradiction to say "Getting aroused means his agree or his emotion to have sex, and getting aroused is needed for having sex. So rape of woman on man is impossible without his willing." As this We can conclude this judgement is insane.

Many people would agree that the most serious crime except murder against an adult is a rape. Can women be charged with the crime of rape? Rape is categorized in two ways, forcible rape and statutory rape. Forcible rape is sexual intercourse that is forced onto a person. Statutory rape is sexual intercourse with a person who has not reached the age of adult. It expanded its range of victim, a woman to a person on December, 2012.
Actually, on April 5th 2015, there was first precedent that a woman in her 40s was charged with a rape. Ms. Jun who went through divorce and was living by herself, had relationship with a married man since last July. When he told Ms.Jun to breakup after 4 years of relationship, Ms. Jun called him out for the final meet up and forced him to drink hypnotic contained drink and tied him up with a prepared tie to restrain him from moving and tried to rape him. Furthermore, he who woke up after a while stumbled and tried to escape, Ms. Jun even caused physical harm to him. This is the first case of women being accused for raping and have brought shock to the Korea.
Since globalization, there are many exchanges in economy, industry, I.T, culture etc. Especially as a result of culture exchange, we can enjoy foreign movies more easily. In general, about 860 foreign movies are open in one year. And their market share is 50%. Among the foreign movies, Hollywood blockbuster movies occupy 75% of screens. The other 25% of movies are diversity film or films made in France, U.K, India, Japan etc. The interesting thing is that Korean movies are not alone in this trend or even worse. Many commercial movies occupy 99% of Korean movie market. This result is worse than foreign movie. Because in Korea, there is three big film distributing agency and they wanted to make more profit. So they invest commercial movies and famous actor, actress. And when the movie ready to open they occupy a lot of screens which can contained as many people as possible. So there is no place for diversity film. Many diversity movies which has good story are disappeared. I think we try to see those movies. But taste of movie depends on person. So I think Korean Film Council carry out policy practically. And the big film distributing agency has responsibility to invest diversity movie for development of the Korean movie industry.

However, it is really obvious that the most famous movie to take the most part because people want it more on screen. If a Korean film become a worldwide box office hit and be acknowledged for quality, it surely can take a great portion not only in Korea, but also in other countries. This ideal idea might not be as easy as it sounds, but it CAN happen someday. Also, I think we cannot criticize film distributing agencies because those companies are run to make as much profit as possible, since they are not government-owned companies.
I agree with your ideal idea can happen someday because there are many movies that receive a favorable evaluation. And we cannot criticize film distributing agency but I just want they do diversity film a favor. Could they give way 5% of screens?

Today, those marketers are very glad to use any kind of information into their marketing strategies even though it is possibly misused. Now they are using not only personal data into their strategies but also physical data to make their dreams come true. ‘Neuro marketing’ is one of their trendy skills used for making us to spend more money for commercial products or services. It is the combination of words, ‘Neuron’ and ‘Marketing’. Neuron that refers to our physical data is a nerve system in our brain that controls received information from outside. Literally this marketing skill is all about human nerves. I think it is such a cautious issue to collect information from brain by marketers. We could be perfectly deceived by who uses our neuron data. So I insist there has to be a regulated rules or limitation when marketers try to use Neuro Marketing for their profit.
First, if Neuro Marketing is deployed on a commercial scale, people can be easily manipulated. For example, KIA, a Korean automobile company, named their vehicles, ‘K7’ after their tested output. They found that human nerves actively react by a sound of alphabet ‘K’ and number ‘7’. The company used FMRI (Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging) which directly measures the blood flow in the brain to analyze human nerve reaction. It looks fascinating at first but there are possibilities for us to have a big mistake. When you buy a car, the most important factor should be its function and your budget, not the name of the car. There could be people who are simply attracted by the name of car, not knowing they would be regretful with other concerns.
Second, our nerve system is not just influenced by single condition. Our feeling is so complicated that it would not be appealed for a sole specific irritation. So many things could affect our sentiment such as weather, human relationships, and any kind of risks that happens from outside. This means Neuro Marketing that are based on our nerve system is able to give a false alarm. If the errors caused by this false alarm affect someone very mentally fragile, ill, or delicate, this smart looking marketing will be nothing but harm.
Finally, a moral issue should come to the fore. For having a better systems in Neuro Marketing, marketers would experiment hard on unconsciousness from brain. Do you really think it is okay to test human brain besides medical purpose to save human lives? Collecting medical information for advertisement doesn’t make any sense at the first place because humans cannot be object for the scientific test to know how to sell well. The boundary we are looking at today for our own sake will absolutely collapse. Our society is already in some kind of Chaos. We can’t drag our morality in to Mammonism. We don’t need more of that.
But I also can’t help myself consenting with the existence of fascinating method from Neuro Marketing. For example, HONDA, a Japanese motor company, has made a specially designated bike which reminds people of angry face. They found out that the angry face looking bike is easier to be acknowledged by drivers or immediately noticed by people on the street. This basic application of brain reaction will surely decrease any bike related accident. However, what if there are some people who more likely pay their attention to smiling face? Also, neuron test costs very high so it can’t be taken for multiple times and only a few people about under a hundred can be tested at a time. For the many reasons discussed above, I would still oppose aggressive Neuro Marketing and ask for regulation. Is it natural phenomenon that we have to accept it as the evolution of modern science? The Nov.13 terror attacks killed 130 people in Paris and feeling of fear, panic and frustrations are spreading rapidly. We all have been known that the IS is threatening whole world but no one has been expected they will attack the center of Paris. Paris and other countries, they proclaimed that the war begins and they will destroy the IS. Sadly, Europe has experienced a number of terror attacks in recent years. However, our country is not a safety area because IS, they said that our country is just a part of their resist target which belongs to crusader alliance. The IS, they have been committing heinous crimes. Moreover they had executed and uploaded and published on the media hostages or civilians cruelly and recent days they threatened us that they will plant a bomb or make a terror in the COEX. The shocking one was that there are some people who support and advocate the IS in public. How come people advocate the IS? I would rather think they had no brain at all. People like us, civilians, we can’t do anything, just stand or stay at home and gawk at the news. For quite a long period, try not to travel other country is good for life extension I think and the IS, they have been extending their power and influence whole world so not only Paris but every country must try to eradicate the IS.

Some terrorist organization related to IS is planning to install a bomb in COEX. We korea first didn't care much becasue we are, aisa, is very far from their base geographically so that we also couldn't really feel it by ourselves. But now for example, there were 'Kim', a korean young boy, who wnated to be involved in the their planning of attack the innocent world. This situation occured because today we are very closely realted to each other by SNS system. I can'y help myself consenting with your saying that we can't just leave it as other's problem and do nothing. I think we are involved to this huge case as a cell of the world, and we should take a action to this huge attack. We all should cooperate with each other.

I think we can tell Koreans what IS did was crazy and horrible thing and we should all be prepared for attacks. Second, serious diseases such as cancer will be disappeared in the next decade. Some scientists discovered 3D printers that could make copies of people’s organs such as kidney. Although the printers couldn’t make the organs that work like real organs in people’s bodies, it will copy the organs that work like real things. After that, they will be transplanted and save people from their diseases.
In conclusion, the way to travel space with families and to copy people’s organs in their bodies will be discovered or developed in the next decade. Then, people can live healthier and enjoying life than before for a long time.

First, if there is chance to travel into the spcae, the bad people who don't have any expectation in our world are willing to run away into the space with no responsibility for their guilt. DeleteI also think that technology has positive impact on society. However, as there are lots of advantages, there are also many disadvantages that will occur in the society. People may become fat because the convenience of technology let people exercise less. Furthermore, the technology development can lead to generation gap between the older and the younger generation. As it become more developed, it will be difficult for the older generation to use the technology. Therefore, the generation gap can be increased. We really need to solve the problems because maybe in the future, technology can occupy our world, not humans.
Maybe all the people who is suffering from disease that can't be cured want the 3D printer. 3D printer, this is a amazing invention so far this isn't generalize yet. Who would expect that the machine will make the copy of the organs? I am pretty sure this machine will change the whole world and the life of extension will be realized soon. Only thing that I am worried about is if its generalize next decade or some time later, what if people who seriously ill don't get the chance? what if people who have a power or the rich try to abuse this machine? I hope all the people get the chance at least once.

ReplyDeleteThese days, I am really interested in automatic driving by computer programmed car. Automatic driving technology is now coming to our life quickly. Many car companies start to introduce new technology, through LA car expo 2015. I insist that it will develop quickly because not only car companies, but also IT Corporation like google also interested in developing this technology. However, today, I want to talk about not a technology prospect, but about ethical problem. It’s maybe weird to talk about ethnic when you’ve heard about automatic driving technology. I found one article that one group conducts one experiment which is name as “The reason why automatic driving car should be programed as killing people”. They set a situation. The situation is like this “If a car is driven 100km/s and find out 10 people just jump off the street, the driver would change his direction and injured by himself or just hit that 10 people in front of the car. How about just one person jump off, or how about a dog is try to cross the street.” Surely automatic driving is managed by computer programming. That means that computer doesn’t have any ethical thinking. So, the program might have set as someone’s ethical decision, not every single driver. The paper said when they ask this dilemma to many people, they reply that they would change direction, but many of them said they don’t want to buy a car which is programmed as changing direction in that situation. How about legal problem? Who’s in charge of that? Will it be driver’s responsibility or car companies’ (or programmers who decide to set a program like that) responsibility?
I think this is really interesting story. Actually there are always some 'gray area' between our ethical problem and technology prospect. I am also wondering about who's in charge of this problem. Nobody cannot decide that one person is not important than 10 people. Every single person is important and even a dog on the street is a important in our lives. Maybe they could develop the skills more advanced so that this kind of problem would never happens.

Whether you drive a self-driving car or not, they must be programmed with these ethical questions and pre-programmed to maneuver a given situation. The general consensus of the public will dictate how the programming will be done. If we don't discuss these topics in advance, the few who do, will have all the say so. It's more like ethical issue that we have to solve before we enter the artificial intelligence world. This is the reason why prototypes are made first, and then through a lot of modifications based on various experiments, the final products are produced. I personally think that debating over "The unwanted but possible" bad situations and concluding with right or wrong answers are pretty far-fetched. The experiment situation in the article is one of the typical examples of regarding ethical issues with technology. Since car accidents are directly related to human lives, and lecal problems for taking responsibilitiy for them are ambiguous, this technology should be, of course, more carefully developed. To give and example of solutions for those accidents in my personal idea, government can make seperate self-driving-car-lanes, set lowered speed limit for them and make special traffic lights on traffic. For car companies, I'm not sure how much they are advanced in this technology field, but I believe solutions focused on human life would definitely come out soon.

It looks like deciding that who's life is important between person in a car and people outside of the car. But before we talk about ethnic program, we need to confirm what machine is. Machine is machine. It is just method for human, not something to decide something. It is can not be and shouldn't be something to think like human by itself. For example, knife cuts everything touched at blade, not choosing what to cut. If you think it is not appropriate example, what about laser surgery instrument(LSI)?. LSI cuts everything with laser but cutting is highly controlled. So it can make delicate surgery. When something invades to the part of surgery or the part of surgery moves, LSI's sensor recognizes invasion as much as possible and stopping laser or move to the part as much as it moves. But if it is too quick change to sensor, machine just cuts. This is original machine. It is reasonable to prevent something from invading and patient from moving during the surgery. Otherwise we need to develope better sensor or wait for innovative technology. Machine just do what they are ordered including stopping ability when something interupts at least now. Machine has never had ethical think. So it is more reasonable to think that car goes as laser unless sensoring. So automated cars should be programmed to go unless it can stop as the car sensors something.

The automatic driving car has solution already. Their first thesis is stop ahead of the other thing. So we dont need worry about that no more. Then that technology is not commercialization yet. ReplyDeleteWhat do you hope for? Many students in Korea say “I don’t know.” There are many students who don’t have their dream. Korean government thought that students need many opportunities to experience many kinds of jobs. So, Korean government adopted a new curriculum, free learning semester. Free learning semester is enforced in middle school. Students can actively participate in class without exam pressure during free learning semester. I support this curriculum.
For the first reason, there are lots of jobs in the world. But if students don’t know, they can’t get any chance to dream these jobs. That’s why schools have to be a place for students to get some information about job, experience lots of things, and know about themselves. For the second reason, Korean students suffer from the exam pressure so they can’t look back themselves. The former curriculum that just sets a high value on grade gives a lot of stress to students. Because of this curriculum, students don’t have a time to know themselves and find what they want to do.
Of course, free learning semester isn’t a perfect curriculum. It has a lot of problems that have to be solved. However it’s just the beginning. We have to pay attention about this new curriculum, find some defects and compensate it. Therefore, many students can dream their future and hope someday. What’s your opinion about this new curriculum in Korea middle school, free learning semester? Are you agree with it or disagree? I would like to know what you think about this.
Thank you for this information. I also do think it's positive movement toward giving students a chance to find their dreams and passions. This is why I advocate students to travel, do internships, and to experience all the variety of things that life has to offer. I remember when I was in high school, a friend of my mom's suggested me to take a year off from school to travel and explore but I didn't and went straight into high school. I regret not having done that as I spent much of my undergraduate studies trying to find myself as I changed my major several times. I would encourage everyone to get a part time job, travel, or do something out of the ordinary.

DeleteYes, this program is only offered one semester in middle school. During the 2015, some middle school choose this program because it wasn't essential. However in 2016, every middle school will choose free learning semester. I also think that it should be continue to high school.

These days most of things are done by other's which is government or parents, which means everyone acting like a robot or doing passively most things. DeleteI am teaching middle school students nowadays. Free learning semester is on second semester of middle school now. This is a new policy and not yet established but this is essential for widening student's sight. However, this policy is criticized by private educational institute or parents who want their offsprings to study like old-school parents and also by some students, because they don't know how it is important to find student's aptitude and interest. Now korea is the country which has the highest proportion of bachelor's degree over total population and actually the degree is meaningless. After graduation of university, many people go to work to not their field(aptitude) but just stable and high wage position. This is the reason why we need to find student's aptitude and interest. We need to watch this policy and get feedback from students for the future. It has growing pain though.

In concert, convention meeting, etc. But this technologies development is unfinished. Holography is the science and practice of making holograms. Typically, a hologram is a photographic recording of a light field, rather than of an image formed by a lens, and it is used to display a fully three-dimensional image of the holographic subject, which is seen without the aid of special glasses or other intermediate optics. Hologram isn’t perfect technology, so if hologram will be completed, we can use this, like SF movie. We don’t need a TV, because we can see 3D image without special glasses. Also we can touch 3D image, that like a Tony stark in the movie ‘iron man’.
It can used many part. For example doctors will see patient conditions lively before the surgery. Also in the collapse site, Hologram show that situation in destroyed building, so rescuer can save victim easily. Of course it need a complicated calculation, but effect of this function, it is very attractive technology. In addition, hologram is not ambiguous technology. Hologram has some result already. So if we effort holograms research and development, that will come true fast.

DeleteLast weekend, I saw a concert and there was a hologram on stage. There were photo and video in there and it looked like real people so I was really surprised that the skill of hologram in Korea is developed well. The singers danced and sang a song beside that hologram box. It was so fancy.

DeleteFor me, holograms were just fascinating technology to watch and enjoy, but I have never thought this technology can be used on saving lives just like you have mentioned. If hologram technology is fully developed, our standard of living would be much higher. Along with its advantages, there must be new type of crime or threat to our society making use of this technology, but I just can't wait to see our daily lives becoming similar to what I've seen on SF movies.
I remember when i first looked at the hologram in the amusement park. It was not vivid and just made of two or three color. But as the technology progressed, precise hologram, which looks like movie image would be possible. If that kind of hologram is realized, it will surely be fascinating.

ReplyDeleteWhat do you think about this large companies threat small traders? I think big companies are good for consumers but not to small seller. I recently find stores that is under the big company. I did not know that points when we buy something are so big and useful. This is reason why I usually find the store of big company. I wanted to buy a jelly. There was a store near by me but I crossed a crosswalk and bought a jelly in Olive young. I felt so sorry for small trader but I liked the clerk’s service of Olive young and it was easy to pay by a credit card even it was a small sum. They are managed systematically. I think these reasons make the unification of consumption.
However, here is a case that there is a new department store in Pangyo that we call technovalley. Hyundai department store is opened and many people who lives near that place and who sell food or clothes complain about that department store. Many people visit there because there are many delicious food stores like Magnolia and EATaly. Traffic jam gets worse and small sellers can sell their products well because of that big one. Small sellers argue that it is unfair that big companies are too close to their store. I want to find a middle ground that government give a money for the small sellers so they can make price down to counter to the big companies.
Yes, I agree with your opinion. I also go to large markets if I’m no busy to get a 1+1 or big sale. Because of the large companies, small markets close their store. Governments want to solve this problem, so they pressed large companies to get a vacation day every two weeks. But I think it has no effect. I think governments require other solution to solve this problem.

DeleteI think this issue is difficult to solve. The government has been considering many solutions to protect the small markets. The government regulates big company to shorten the operation time and to close the deparment stores two days a month for the small markets. This has been implementing well but i think this regulation can't make small market to survive. I think goverment should strengthen the regulation to solve this problem. For example, there are some pizza and chicken that the big companies are selling. Emart are releasing Emart pizza and Lotte Mart had released chicken in reasonable price. Government should ban big companies to sell these products because this is infringement to the small makrets.

DeleteI agree with you. I like to go large company’s shop. It is everywhere so I can find it easily. Also, they offer nice service and lots of products. On the contrary, small shops offer not good service (not all of small shops of course but I felt unpleasant often.) and they have a few products so I don’t have a choice. So I think small shops shouldn’t just complain. For example, ‘SULBING’ was not large company but it has about 400 chain stores now. So I think small shops shouldn’t follow large shops and they have to strengthen the competitiveness.

The education program from the owner is about 'How the workers behave to the customer nicely, the attitude of the workers ; kindness'. They are included in many food so consumers demand companies to reveal their GMO import records. But it is not open to consumers cause it is company's private information.
GMO also have problem as well as many advantages. It is reported that toxicity and alergy could be expressed. And GMO could affect other creature with their gene.
Despite the controversy GMO will be used more commonly in the future. companies may want to develope GMO food for profit.
But almost every consumer may have doubts on GMO food and may try to avoid GMO food as long as they can.

Feminism is idea that extend women’s right so they ask a question in a sarcastic way.
However it’s not! The definition of feminism is the belief that men and women should have equal rights and opportunities. You might say that we all know that but conclusions that I reached show me that quite a lot of people don’t know the feminism and even have the misconception. We all, feminist, think we should teach boy that they can cry loudly and be sentimental.

People think that if you become a vegetarian you won’t get enough nutrients that you need for your body, so children can’t grow well as the kids who eat meat. People think that all you can eat is green grass. And people think of you as a weirdo if you are a vegetarian. Like, he or she is so picky.

But I think it’s really contradicted about people loving animals like dogs and cats but has no feelings about pigs or chickens that we eat. It’s the same animal, same lives. I’m not asking or persuading you to become a vegetarian but I just want to tell you about the animals we eat. And maybe just decrease the amount of the meat you eat, like what I’m trying to do these days.
In old times, the meat was hard to get and expensive to buy. So there was no need to raise pigs, chickens or cows as many as we do nowadays. But today it’s just like rice it’s everywhere on our table. The increase of the demand in meat people needed to grow huge amount of animals so the “factory farming system” developed. It’s really terrible.
Here is the way animals get raised in the factory farm.
For chickens, they grow up in a cage which is a size of a A4 paper and get their beak cut off, in case they peck each other of a stress. Oh, and a male chicks they can’t even grow up because they go into the huge bag and get sealed up to death. Male chickens get a though meat so they get killed. And chickens that lay eggs they just keep laying eggs till they can’t lay eggs and get killed. People don’t turn off the light so they don’t go to sleep and get a hormone shots to lay eggs.
For pigs, they are also grown in a small small cage where they can not even turn around. They also get their teeth pulled out and cut off the tail. For male pigs they get their penis pulled out because the meat can be tough and smelly. For mother pigs they just get mating every time when they can get babies. And they don’t get to do anything they need to do when they birth. Like having hays ready for the warmth or stuffs that are instinct. They just birth in a cold concrete in a dark and crowded small dirty cage.
I can’t tell you all about the factory farming. But it is really horrible. But people turn their faces away from those issues or videos or articles. Because you don’t really want to know a bad thing about what you want to do or eat or have. But I think many people should just at least know about what they are eating. There are videos you can watch in PETA or just google it. I’m just saying that we don’t have to eat meat 24/7.

DeleteAnimal abuse is not only occur in factory farming but also happens when making clothes. Recently, i saw a video that people abused goose. They were picking feathers of goose to make jackets. They were picking alive geese' feathers with hands and the geese were screaming because of the pain. when the skin got teared, people just sew their skin without any anesthesia. When the geese feathers grow again, they pick the feathers again and again. It was too cruel to watch it and people should respect animal at least they don't feel pain.

There are many vitamin, omega-3, red jinsam etc. The problem is we need to avoid some poor quality product, such as fake material which shocked us a few month ago. Comsuming nutients through natural food is the best if possible like vitamin and omega-3.

I also saw a documentary about the chickens that are raised not in proper way. They are just born and raised in very small space. They put the chicks in small space so they make chicks fat. People just feed them in that small space and sell them easily. This mechanism was so sad that we are too cruel to eat the meat. I think the nutrition of vegetarians is just stereotype that meat eaters just say. My mother really do not like to eat meat so I understand.

He was sick at the end because 13year-old for dog age, it's like a grandmother or grandfather for human age.
ReplyDeleteAlthough it's very expensive to cure a pet at a veterinary hospital (because no insurance is allowed for the animals), my family did our best to take care of him. However, some people around us suggested to do an euthanasia instead of using so much money. I was shocked when I heard this. It was hard for me to understand their thought. I couldn't think of killing my dog even though he's still alive. Now that he died in spite of our best effort to make him healthy again, I don't regret at all of using much money.
To me, euthanasia is a terrible choice for their pets. It's related to moral problem. Pets are also living things, they might have a willing to live just like people. It's true that we spend a lot of money for our animal's sickness. Because of this cost, It can be hard to do all of the cures that hospitals recommend. However, we need to do any other efforts to make their pets better. We should not give up just because of the money. Think of the beautiful, happy days you had with your pets. My dog was with me whenever I felt sad or happy and listened to my story every time. I'm curious about your thought about the euthanasia toward animals. Do you agree with me or not?

These days, lots of pets are abandoned because they cost a lot to care. Most of these pets are sent to abandoned animal center. Some lucky pets met another owner but others who didn't meet another owners are left in the animal center. The pets that have no hope to meet another owner are killed without pain. I also think this is not humans rights to kill animals' life. It is immoral to do such a things. To prevent those things to happen, i think people should be more responsible for the pets. If people can't make a full responsible for their pets, they don't have a right to have a pet. If so, the pets who are died from the euthanasia will be decreased.
Sorry to hear that. 3 years ago I have a pets. It was hamsters. And that was my first pets, so I did't have so much information about raising pets. And they lived for a year. The day when they died before I was bitten by my hamster. I was shocked. Because they never bite me. Even hamsters recognize their owner, and the owner of hamsters trains hamsters like the other pet owners. But still I love my hamsters. Hope you get better soon.

DeleteI also have social networking accounts like Facebook and Instagram. I usually do that when I am in transportation or the break time of class. I think they give me a lot of information. Those are consist of current issues and information like sales promotion od event. It is very fast to deliver some ideas.
I used to use Facebook, instagram, and other many SNS application. However, not I just use Instagram. the one thing that I dont like about Facebook is they have too much wrong information and it makes people can''t see the real facts. Also, I don't want my friends to put "like" on that stupid informations. Also, I have one friend who believe that information without filtering and keep saying Facebook is his evidence to say something (especially political issue). I hate that. I really hate that. That's not a real fact and sometimes that can kill people, hurt someone. So, I am totally understand that SNS has a lot of benefits, but it still has a lot of side effects.

ReplyDeleteAs technology has developed, people take lots of benefits from the technology. Technology increases the quality of life because it makes our life become more convenient. For example, the online shopping enables people to save time by looking at lots of products on a screen; people can easily find and buy products. In addition, the medical technology let people healthy and live longer life by curing all kinds of sicknesses. However, too much development of technology has negative effects.
First, technological advances may bring about less demand in labor market. Machine automation has been replacing human workers. For instance, self-service machines are increasing in theater, library and gas station.
Second, it causes obesity. Frequent use of technology lead people gets fat. As technology has developed, everything became possible without any limitation. For example, people don’t need to go bank, market, and even academy because it is all available through the internet. They can use internet bank, online shopping mall, and online lecture for their own convenience. Therefore, the obesity is on the rise because as people use more technology.
Third, technology decreases the face to face communication. It seems like technology facilitates communication. Many people are interacting through the SNS such as twitter, facebook and instagram. However, the interacting in reality is decreasing because of the technology development. Technology will be developed in the future and there will be more problems that will occur. Therefore, people should consider the problems and figure those out.
To me, development of communications technology is a two-edged sword. My father have worked abroad four years. He worked in Middle East area, so It's difficult to reach him by phone. But we could use the internet. We got in touch with him by mobile network service, such as ‘Kakao voice’ or ‘Tango’. My family took a benefit from technology. But in this other way I lacked face communication with my friends. Me and my friends only used SNS or mobile service to talk. it's just kind of ironic. I can communicate with people who live in abroad, but I don’t communicate with people next to me. I should turn off my mobile while I was meeting.

However, what I most agree with is about a communication with the people in front of you. It's always good to us that we can connect with other people regardless of the distance, but many people tend to focus on their phones even though they're facing eachother. ReplyDeleteIn South Korea, “Spoon class theory’’ is a currently issue. It is derived from “born with a silver spoon in mouth” that is an English idiom. But in South Korea, there is not only silver spoon but also gold, silver, bronze and clay spoon. It has also become more widespread by SNS like Facebook, Instagram or so.
This “Spoon class theory "assumes a person's economic status is determined by their parents' assets. According to the spoon standards, gold spoon has more than 2 billion won in assets or 200 million won per annum, silver spoon has more than 1 billion won in assets or 80 million won per annum, bronze spoon has more than 500 million won in assets or 55 million won per annum and lastly, clay spoon has less than 50 million won in assets or 20 million won per annum. Some people even divide plastic spoon and brass spoon.
People think class mobility is hard to achieve. They think if you are gold spoon, you can get private education, enter the elite university and go abroad for language training. As a result, you can get a job easily. On the contrary, if you are clay spoon, you can’t get those and you just get student loan. Also, you can’t get a job easily. So they feel listless and they do not try to live well.
What do you think about it? I think it indicate a social problem in South Korea. Lots of my friend got student loan already and they are busy to do a part time job. They said they felt tired always and hard to follow the class. Some of my friend are considering to take leave of absence to earn the money. I really don’t like to express parents as a spoon but we have to think about this social problem and think about a solution. I wonder your opinion about it.
Spoon class theory is sad and efficient theory to show korean unvisible class. This theory shows us how people live up to their parents and it is changed not by just indivisual efforts but by parents money. Many people worked hard, studied hard and thought hard but finally they couldn't succeed as much as rich people even though they had harder time and did better than the rich people. That's why people think society class is determined when they were born. It is super difficult to make big money with study and even work, because wage is lower than people need. Low wage makes low saving. Low saving makes low assets. low assets make low additional income. This is bad cycle. This is unfair to take equal chance to succeed. Everyone should have equal chance to succeed by their efforts. In order to change this society, I think recognition should be changed like american recognition. Self-made should be more praised than just rich people by succession. Moreover, minimum wage should be increased up to 10,000 won for minimum happy life and working students.

Deleteit's the first, I've not heard of plastic spoon and brass spoon. I don’t like Spoon class theory neither. It’s the worst expression I’ve heard. It sound like all my difficulties come from my parents. Ridiculous! Yeah, we can’t approach that gold spoon’s bank balance. The gap between ‘gold’ and ‘clay’ are getting worse. It’s hard to fix the society. But we are living earnestly. We do our best to study. I don’t care about my parents’ economic status. I just believe I can do everything what I want.
I also think we have to take equal chance to succeed. In Early Childhood Education field, there is a "Dream Start Program". It helps poor parent's kids. It is made by government to give equal chance to get education. So if there's a program for university students like "Dream Start Program", it can be helpful to study.

ReplyDeleteEveryone may have ever heard about GMO. GMO is Genetically modified organism which has more productivity or advantages to be processed like resistance to weedkiller. While GMO is made, genetic engineering is used for modifying genes. Many GMOs have been made from the time genetic engineering is found. Thanks to this technique, we could get more efficiently growing food. The first GMO for product was tomato which doesn't soften for a long time. This tomato could be transported further and sold for longer time in market. It was like innovation in farming. And more GMOs have been developed like insect attack-resistant soybeans and corns. All of these are plants. But 19.11.2015, GMO salmon was allowed for food by FDA. GMO salmons take just half time to grow up and they need just half feed than normal ones. US consumer organization criticize FDA's decision because GMO salmon doesn't need GMO mark to notice to consumers and many people worry about its side effects.
ReplyDeleteBut I think it is not bad for us. There are three reasons. The first reason is that GMO has been consumed by people for couple of decades and nothing reported about bad effects to us. Many people worry about its unknown effect, but genes are from the other species in nature. So it is difficult to expect extremely bad effect. Secondly, if we feed them just half, salmon prices will be decreased and we can save our environment by reducing feed. Lastly, all GMO salmons are only raised in sterile condition and in specific farm to prevent GMO salmons from ruining ecosystem.

DeleteYes GMO is sure beneficial in the aspect of productivity and maintenance, which lead to economical growth. I have to admit that it IS an innovative technology, but due to the trend of desiring more eco-friendly and well-being food and vegitable, it is obvious that people be kind of worried of genetically engineered food. I'm not talking of disbelief, but even if GMOs are hundred percent safe, I think consumers have the right to know what they eat are made of.
Jay. I agree with you. I also think people have rights to know what they eat and GMO food companies have to use GMO mark on their items. But I just want to say GMO is not that bad, not like widely known. I think it is far exaggerated by environmentalists or religious people. We need to take both sides of mouth and choose what we want.

ReplyDeleteThe differences between man and woman are inborn. There are many researches that proved it. They said that man and woman have different brain system. Men are right brain people. They have more complex system in right brain. The Right brain people are good at numbers and have spacious ability so men tend to good at math and parking a car. On the other hand women are left brain people. The Left brain people are good at word and they are creative. So women are good at literature and sympathize with others.
Of course the differences are comparative. But majority of men are right brained and most of women are left brained. So problems between man and woman are common things. That will help to release stress between conflicting couple.
Well sometimes it is really hard to remain a relationship between people moreover it is much harder to make a good relationship between girl friend or boyfriend. Of course men and women using different proportion side of brain but the very first thing to make a peaceful relationship is do not force your idea to other person in other words understand !. Try to think opposite side ,try to sympathize even your left brain isn't working properly. This isn't working in one morning, need lots of time and lots of experiences. DeleteI know that women and men usually think differently and it's natural thing so that we can't change. However, I think this reason should not justify their fight(between a couple). They should talk a lot to understand eachother and fix their problem. Leaving their problems just because men and women are originally different will make their problem worse and finally break the couple.

Teacher told me that it’s because many parents want their children to learn English earlier. They believe it’s better to learn foreign languages at younger age. And these demands created boom in growing number of English kindergarten in Korea. However I don’t think that English kindergarten is good for their children. There are two reasons why I disagree with sending children to an English kindergarten
Firstly, Kindergarten students don’t have enough cognitive skills and motivation to learn English. They can’t even speak perfect Korean and they can’t even write Korean as well. At this period, it’s more important to learn proper Korean. Also learning two languages at the same time could be confusing to young children. Getting confidence in their first language should be priority
Secondly, there are a lot of other things to learn at their age. They are young and there are more important things that they can learn only at that age such as Creativity and imaginative power. And that period could be crucial time to develop essential skills they need in their life such as sociability and personality.
Because of those reasons, I think teaching English to their kindergarten age kids is wasting time and wasting money.
As time goes by, english is more needed by society when it comes to finding job. That's why parents want their siblings to learn english earlier. However it is not really helpful to children as you said. I heard one more reason. That is about the first language in use. Growing, children learn any language for the first language and it is possible to learn more language. After they learn and understand Korean, they should learn other foriegn languages. It is because learning first language at first is more effective to learn many kinds of languages. So I was shocked because in early childhood education field, it was completely different from what I learned. What was worse, a girl said to me that she goes to the English, ballet, and taekwondo academies in spite of she is only 3 years old. (In Korea age, she is just 5.) I was very shocked and felt sorry for her. I think it is just greed of adults. They don’t know what is important to their child. I think they should get parents education program.
I don’t think learning two languages at the same to children is serious problem. If the Korean children lived in the English-speaking countries, they could learn English easily. Because they can acquire a language naturally by living in an English-speaking environment. And it wouldn’t seriously affect to them. The problem is coercive education by their parents. English kindergarten didn’t offer children an English-speaking environment. They acquire naturally not the English, but the stress.
DeleteI agree with you Jessie. In the kindergarten age, expressing their desires or feelings is the most important I think. Communicating well with their parents and friends is key to be well educated. Because they know what the parents say, they can understand their parents. Also parents should know what the child say. If a child can't communicate with his or her parents, the child will cry peevishly but parents can't understand what their child wants. So, the child may become a grizzler. What it comes down to is, acquiring one language perfectly and fast seems more important in that age.

ReplyDeleteA month ago, my cousin got married. There was a surprising thing about her wedding, it is that they prepared for wedding themselves. They prepared themselves for all of things, from location to gifts for guests. she got married in her church, and reduced guest number. They could make own food for the wedding with their friends because of less guests. She designed the wedding invitations and the bouquet, and also took wedding pictures herself, not in photo studio. There was no officiant's message, just took marriage vows and danced. It was like ‘house party’. She made a simple wedding dress with her friend.(She told me that she gave a small amount of money and a meal to friend) Because she didn't have enough money to buy house, and wedding planners asked for a lot of money, she made this decision. They said self wedding is a very memorable experience, although it was very time consuming and physically exhausting. Their wedding was not that big, but she seems to be the happiest woman in th world.
These days, high house prices and too much wedding expenses increase the number of self-wedding couple. I heard that lots of classes for women who prepare self-wedding are opened, such as DIY bouquet or wedding cake baking. What's you guys’ opinion of self-wedding? Do you want to have self-wedding in the future? I think it is meaningful and cost less, but seems to be busy and tough.. It require high (my own) personnel expenses. Do you think it will really reduce the wedding cost?

DeleteI think self- wedding is good thing. In Korea, the newly married couple spends lots of money to get marriage because it is a family event. Of course self-wedding can be tired and tough to prepare wedding but I think preparing wedding with wedding planner is tired and tough too. Wedding planner will give us many options and we have to choose all of them. So we have to compare and search about them. Also wedding planner can tell us about other people’s wedding so we will compare ourselves to others. So I think self-wedding with my own way is happier than prepare with wedding planner. DeleteI love this idea. Self wedding is one of my ideal type of wedding ceremony. I think there are too much overcharged wedding culture through out the country. I heard recently that it need at least 10000000 won to prepare for marriage, and that's why many young couple just tend to gave up being married. I don't understand why people should pay a lot of money on that. Marriage is not all about social treatment, but about combining two people as a family. So, your idea is worth thinking about our generation's culture and if we need to fix it, we need to at least try to change it.

I don't want to have a wedding which is same with every other people. I want my own wedding, you know? However, it's somewhat hard to do like this because wedding is not just for me and my husband. In korea, both my parents and my partner's parents get involved in their children's wedding. It's an old thought, but lot of parents want to follow traditional ways so they spend lot of money in wedding and for the presents eachother. ReplyDeleteDo you all remember the debate we had in class about a man claiming he had been raped by woman? This unfamiliar topic interested me and got me thinking rest of the day. For those who don't remember what was the story we talked over, here is the brief situation. On friday, a man and a woman in a party got drunk and had a good time ending up in bed having relationship. The next day, the man accused the woman of rape. Regardless of man's position, the court judged innocence of the woman, with a reason that males are physically, biologically inborn with a mechanism of getting aroused by any woman, any time and can enjoy having sex. This case was delt in U.S. but I have looked up on the internet about Korea's law. There is a law regarded with rape, only in a way of man on woman. However, in some cases, woman on man can fall under rape, only when woman is on socially superior position over man. This means, for example, female boss on male at work, female teacher on student in school, and so on. Back to the story about the case, I agree with the fact that its mostly man committing sexual crime, but the reason the court gave is not scientifically proven or exactly true. As far as I know of male, as one being, when man is physically stimulated by woman, the man would be aroused in extremely high possibility, but this cannot support the man enjoys every sexual situation and always assume man would want to have sex. So to conclude my opinion, the court's judgement was unfair. How do you guys think?
It's interesting that woman on man can be pleaded guilty as well. The American court that we talked about in class, it's true that they made a dicision that the man did the rape just because thier body reacted automatically and did not consider about their psychological thing at all. However, I think law just deal with only facts that doesn't change in any situation. You need a definite evidence if you want to proof your innocence. In this case, even though man did not want to sleep with that woman and didn't raped the woman, there's no evidence that we can see. Men can't proof their mental things in front of the court. That's why I think it's unfair to all of the men. Also I think this is the reason why the court judged the man just by the physical, biological things(which is science->fact).

DeleteIf we take court's decision, men are always aroused by any sexual touch. Then we can think a man can get aroused even though the man doesn't want sex with someone. Then the guy in the case could have sex without his will but by partner because men get always aroused whatever the situation is. With that theory, it is contradiction to say "Getting aroused means his agree or his emotion to have sex, and getting aroused is needed for having sex. So rape of woman on man is impossible without his willing."
As this We can conclude this judgement is insane.
yes, The point is man "might" have sex whenever, whoever, wherever or whatever but still, that doesn't mean man alway enjoy it. the court consider only biological, physical way not a emotional way. so it's rediculus.

Rape is categorized in two ways, forcible rape and statutory rape. Forcible rape is sexual intercourse that is forced onto a person. Statutory rape is sexual intercourse with a person who has not reached the age of adult. It expanded its range of victim, a woman to a person on December, 2012.

Ms. Jun who went through divorce and was living by herself, had relationship with a married man since last July. When he told Ms.Jun to breakup after 4 years of relationship, Ms. Jun called him out for the final meet up and forced him to drink hypnotic contained drink and tied him up with a prepared tie to restrain him from moving and tried to rape him. Furthermore, he who woke up after a while stumbled and tried to escape, Ms. Jun even caused physical harm to him. This is the first case of women being accused for raping and have brought shock to the Korea.

ReplyDeleteSince globalization, there are many exchanges in economy, industry, I.T, culture etc. Especially as a result of culture exchange, we can enjoy foreign movies more easily. In general, about 860 foreign movies are open in one year. And their market share is 50%. Among the foreign movies, Hollywood blockbuster movies occupy 75% of screens. The other 25% of movies are diversity film or films made in France, U.K, India, Japan etc.
The interesting thing is that Korean movies are not alone in this trend or even worse. Many commercial movies occupy 99% of Korean movie market. This result is worse than foreign movie. Because in Korea, there is three big film distributing agency and they wanted to make more profit. So they invest commercial movies and famous actor, actress. And when the movie ready to open they occupy a lot of screens which can contained as many people as possible. So there is no place for diversity film. Many diversity movies which has good story are disappeared. I think we try to see those movies. But taste of movie depends on person. So I think Korean Film Council carry out policy practically. And the big film distributing agency has responsibility to invest diversity movie for development of the Korean movie industry.

DeleteI agree with your opinion of hollywoold movies taking too much part in Korea's movie screens. However, it is really obvious that the most famous movie to take the most part because people want it more on screen. If a Korean film become a worldwide box office hit and be acknowledged for quality, it surely can take a great portion not only in Korea, but also in other countries. This ideal idea might not be as easy as it sounds, but it CAN happen someday. Also, I think we cannot criticize film distributing agencies because those companies are run to make as much profit as possible, since they are not government-owned companies.
I agree with your ideal idea can happen someday because there are many movies that receive a favorable evaluation. And we cannot criticize film distributing agency but I just want they do diversity film a favor. Could they give way 5% of screens?
